Play.com are great for dvd's, posters, cd's, gadgets, games and more! This site is great if you're looking for any multimedia product, or quirky gift/gadget, and defintely worth looking at as a price check if you're about to buy somehwere else. The site has a large vareity of items, and even includes clothing. It's definitely worth a look if you're struggling for a present for somebody, you may just stumble across something you hadn't thought of.
The big attraction to play.com, for me, is the good prices; it's often cheaper than elsewhere and also offers free delivery. For this reason I often prefer it over amazon.
Having ordered on numerous occasions from play.com, the service has always been second to none. Delivery has never been any later than 4 days, and considering it comes from jersey and they offer free delivery, that's fantastic service. As well as that your items will come well packaged; so you won't be waiting 4 days for a cd that comes with a broken case!
I can't comment on the refund policy because I have never felt I had to request a refund from play after buying an item from them.
I suppose if you're looking for an item quickly (i.e. a birthday 2 days away that had slipped your mind!) then play.com won't be the right choice for you, and you would be best to pay a little extra for next day delivery elsewhere.
