Before I say anything about Play.com, before I buy anything books, cds, and dvds I always use the comparison site to check prices across all the major sites.

Play.com has been about for several years in the online market for CD's, DVD's, Books, and Games. They're based in Jersey to avoid VAT and supposedly to give us the cheapest prices.
Play's big seller is they're Free Delivery on everything. They only have one delivery for everything, theres no premium/fast delivery. Most items are delivered in 2-5 days by Royal Mail 1st Class. Larger items are usually Royal Mail Special Delivery or Citylink NextDay, and generally delivered within 2 days.

Recently they've expanded their marketplace to include a PlayTrade section so you can resell you're used items, similar to Amazon's marketplace. They've also expanded within the last two years to start selling clothes, shoes, and have increased they're Gadgets section hugely.

The things I really do like about Play.com are they have a great search facility, allowing you to search the whole site with one search box right at the top of the front and every page. It's all priced clearly straight away, and you add an item to you're basket and it lets you continue shopping straight away from where you were.
They have a great pre-order service letting you buy items and they don't charge you until the items leave the warehouse when they are released.

Pricewise Play are competitive in the marketplace, but in 2008/09 they aren't the cheapest out the major players like they used to be. They tend to be similar prices to Amazon and Ebay etc.

When you're registered with Play and you store you're card details with them, all you have to do is sign in and enter you're card verification number to confirm you're order. Play don't consider an order completed until they charge you which is when it leaves the warehouse, as this gives them the oppurtunity to cancel you're order if they have mispriced the item to save them having to complete the order.

Always remember to use a cashback site when you buy for up to 7% cashback, topcashback, quidco or getpoundsback!

Play is one of the easiest to use sites with a great interface and average prices!
