Advantages: Great communication, speedy service, great prices.
Disadvantages: They are not perfect, you may experience the odd problem.
I've never ordered from Amazon, but I have been using Play.com for about five years now.
Play sell CD, DVDs, computer games, clothing, toys, electrical items and gadgets. They have also recently branged out into selling concert tickets - but I'm yet to use this part of the service.
Play are really efficient, items are normally packed and shipped within a few days and the site communicated really well with customer.
I've remained loyal to Play.com because they are cheap, they usually deliver quickly, you can track your order on-line, you can access your shopping history and the postage is free.
In all the years I've been using the service I've only had two issues:
1) I ordered some Christmas gifts four weeks before the big day and they failed to arrive... until the 23rd December, as someone that is super organised with her Christmas shopping this stressed me out a little.
2) I bought my Dad a DVD box set for Father's Day but my Dad already had it so I wanted to return it to Play. I was told that in order to do this I'd have to send it by special delivery. I have never needed to return anything before and I thought there would free postage provisions in place, but there wasn't so in the end I decided to keep the item rather than lose money on it.
However I have ordered close to 100 items from Play over the years and I don't want to dwell on these gripes, so I would give the website 4 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
All in all I'd say that Play.com is a great service, however they use Royal Mail so I'd advise you to place any Christmas orders sooner rather than later...
Summary: If you usually use Amazon but Play.com are cheaper for what you are looking for then give them a go!
