Disadvantages: None

Play.com is a website that sells DVDs, CDs and computer games (PC + Playstation).

The layout of the website is simple, links to the DVD, CD or Games section are on the top of the page, whislt there is a search facility on the left of the page. As you scroll down the page there are other links wich lead you to Play.coms special offers. Examples include, DVDs made by Universal only £7.99 or CD's from BMG only £8.99.

Within each catagory (DVD, CD or Games) there are sub-catagories. For example, DVDs are broken down into Regions, Reagion 1 (US DVDs) and Region 2 (European DVDs). With this feature it makes it easier for the customer to go to the right place in which they intend. CDs is broken down into genre sub catagories and Games is broken down into PC, Playstation one and Playstaion 2.

The company that own Play.com is based in Jersey. In Jersey they have different laws regarding what they can sell and how they distribute it. You can't go into a UK shop and buy a new Region 1 DVD. At the moment Lord of the Rings is about to come out on Region 1 so you can buy it from this site eventhough the film is still out in our Cinemas.

The best thing about this site is the prices. A new DVD in the highstreet shops cost about £14.99ish, on play.com you can buy it for about £11.99 and the price includes postage and packaging (P+P). New Playsation 2 games sell for £34.99 on play.com (Inc P+P) whereas in the highstreet shop it will sell for at least £39.99-£44.99.

When you find a product you want you can read a review about it plus it has technical information to accompany it such as what PC requirements you need or wheather a Region 1 DVD can be played on a Region 2 DVD player. Some DVDs are Mutli-Region so it can be played on any machine.

Once you make an order you will receive an email of confirmation and a date in which you should expect yor order to be delivered. I have ordered off this site about 10 times and they
have not failed me yet. You can pre-order for forthcoming products as well.

So far I have campared prices for about 30 DVDs and 10 Playstation 2 games between Play.com and highstreet shops and Play.com prices are either the same or cheaper, £10 cheaper in many cases. The range of products Play.com sell is vast. With no P+P charges I think Play.com is well worth a visit if your looking for any DVDs, CDs or Computer games.

Delivery from this site can be a bit slow compared to sites such as amazon but the prices and range is great. I find myself ordering from here more and more recently :)
