“ Trendy fashions for men and women. „
Having previously walked past several Republic stores, I was put off their clothing because of the way there store is presented. It seemed almost intimidating.
However, having a wardrobe clearout meant that I needed new clothes. A friend of mine had just purchased a whole load of new clothes online from Republic. So I decided to check it out myself.
The website is very well presented, easy search functions and great filters.
I particulary like that fact that customers can give their reviews. This is really helpful when you're unsure about purchases. Thanks to those reviews, I ended up buying several tops a size smaller than my true size, and they fit perfectly. The quality is much better than I expected. In fact, I would say it was pretty good.
The prices of the products are fairly reasonable for what you get. Good quality, fashionable style.
Standard delivery is £2.99, or £1.99 if you purchase at least 2 items.
They have free delivery to your local store for you to collect.
They offer 10% student discount on non-sale items.
Overall, a brilliant store!
Republic is by far one the best quality clothing stores available in the UK for both men and women. I have one in my hometown of Cwmbran in South Wales and I'm always popping in to see what new stock is available, as well as shopping online at www.republic.co.uk. The service I have always received in store has always been superb! (I have only ever returned an item once, only because it didn't fit).
I always have trouble when purchasing jeans and trousers to fit my leg length which is 34-36 inches. I also find that a lot of jeans seem to stretch around the waist and bum after wearing for only a few hours. At Republic, I find their jeans of good quality and pure denim, instead of containing elastic. They fit well for the whole day.
I have a lot of clothes in my wardrobe and they are mainly from the Republic brands such as Sol Cal and Miso. The prices can be a bit expensive, but the quality of the clothes are definitely worth it. They always have offers available in store and online such as two items for £30.
This is a review primarily of the online front of the Fashion store Republic. Having now used the website for numerous orders, I can't help but be impressed with the service and quality of the products on each of the occasions I have used them.
I generally only use the website when special offers are available, such as free delivery or a % off sale, which does reduce the price of the products dramatically, some can be a little on the expensive side without the reductions. However, offers do tend to come up very often, and if you sign up to the website you will get regular emails informing you of when the offers are live on the site.
The quality of the garments differs, but for the price the main brand they sell, SoulCal is reasonable quality for every day wear, possibly not for nights out etc, although they do have a SoulCal deluxe range which tends to be a better quality of garment. Alongside the SoulCal, they do offer other major brands such as Diesel, G-Star, Bench, Levis, Wrangler, Firetrap etc.
The delivery times have been second to none for me, with two orders turning up the next day even though I only paid for the standard delivery, but usually the orders are delivered within 48 hours of you placing the order.
The actual website is very easy to navigate, using drop down menus, and allowing multiple filters for price, brand, size, and product type etc to help you drill down to the products you are searching for. Once a product is selected it is simple to view in the variation of colours offered and has a selection of images to browse through and zoom into for further inspection. There is also a store checker if you would prefer to visit an actual store to see the product first hand.
Any products that arrive that you are unhappy with can be returned in a local store to help alleviate postage issues. Overall the shopping experience with Republic online is second to none; I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.
My favourite thing about Republic, as a shop, is that it doesn't try too hard. I find that shops such as Topshop and Urban Outfitters are working far too hard on their brand image, and not hard enough on their clothes. Not only are shops such as Topshop and Urban Outfitters far too expensive, especially in relation to the quality of their clothes, but they also offer quite a limited selection of clothes, in the way that their clothes are very fitted to one style (apart from the basics range) and are concentrating far too much on recreating trends.
Republic offers a range of brands for both men and women, and also offer their own brand of clothes of a higher quality, i've found, than Topshop for a much lower price.
They offer clothes that do fit current trends, but are not too edgy or out-there, meaning they are accessible to everybody and everybody can wear them! I sometimes find that, because they are not set on recreating trends, they actually offer some quite different items of clothing that I haven't seen imitated anywhere else.
Though the prices are not as low as Primark, the prices are very reasonable compared to the quality of the clothing, I find.
If you see a Republic shop with a sale, I recommend you go in and have a look, as many items I've bought in the sale, from in store, were bought for £5 each! I have also bought my boyfriend clothes in the sale too. Most recently, I purchased a thick, high quality, Superdry green plaid shirt for £5. If the shirt was on sale for £10 or higher, I am quite sure I still would have bought it.
I have a republic in my local shopping centre and it doesn't really stock that much in variety of clothes as it is only a tiny shop so I was over the moon a couple of years ago when they started selling clothes online.
I am a big fan of Republics clothes and love the large variety of clothes that they sell. I visit the website at least once a week and needless to say there are always tons of items that I am desperate to have.
They sell a lot of clothes by Miso, Crafted, Soul Cal and other more expensive brands like G Star, Henleys, Firetrap, Bench etc.
On the website you get a womens section and mens section which list all the different categories of clothes that they sell e.g. trousers, dresses, purses etc and they also have a trend link in each section to show you what is in trend at the moment and shows you which items to buy.
They also have the 2 for £30 and 2 for £50 offers that they offer in the shops available on the website and there is usually quite a few pages of clothes to choose from, you get more of a choice than what you get in the shop.
The thing I love most about Republic is their online sale, it beats everybody elses sale and if you get on there early enough when it starts you can get some real bargains. Needless to say most the items dissapear very fast so you do have to be quick at ordering and checking out. You can usually get loads of items for around £50 in their sale so I do try hard to wait for their sales as usually everything I want does end up being in the sale for about £10 cheaper than its original price.
Their standard delivery charge is £3.95 and that is for 4-5 day delivery, if you want next day it is £4.50 for orders under £50, £2.99 for orders between £50 and £100 and free for orders of £100 or more. They also now offer international delivery which is good. You have to pay to send returns back but this isn't too bad.
What I like a lot about them is that they accept Paypal as one of their payment options so it is really easy to pay.
Overall I think Republic is a great site with a wide choice of clothes for all tastes and to be honest their clothes are quite reasonable :)
Republic is a shop that has been present in my local shopping centre for some time now but it took me a long time to enter it as the clothes just didn't suit my style at the time. Fast forward five years and try and keep me away from this fantastic shop.
The fashions in the store are coordinated into ranges like Miso, Bench, Henleys and soul cal - this way they have a broad range that caters to most people. Miso is primarily made up of up to the minute fashions and florals, Soul Cal is your surfer type clothes - loose, bright and pretty. Henleys more sports ware and Bench the more casual look.
Seen as though there is usually a broad range of clothes the store is often careful to mix and match these styles together often putting two tops on the same hanger to give the customer a better sense of coordination. Good, so no more hunting around for that cardigan that the model was wearing thats no wheer to be found!
The shop layout is fair, with mens and womens clothes at either side of the shop, finding clothes at the front of the shop and accessories more towards the back. My one gripe though (and it may not be every Republic) but the store has so much to pack in it leaves little room for shoppers battling for elbow space. Having said this though it is fairly easy to find what you're looking for, getting to it is another matter.
The website layout is also extremely easy to sort through with drop down menus for women and mens clothes and easy categories to choose from e.g. dresses, tops etc. Also note that the offers are also on a drop down menu as well.
Republic also have a multitude of offers on that extend out into their website with 2 for £30 or even buy one get one free offers that are on all year round. Fantastic! Add to this the sale items and you can find lots of affordable clothes for your wardrobe. The prices of their clothes are fair as well with tops usually costing £15 - £20 and dresses a maximum of £30.
The sizing however is a bit hit and miss because of the amount of different names in the store. A size 8 for Miso is not a size 8 for Soul Cal. There in lies the problem on the internet site. I ordered 3 beautiful dresses and two tops and it was the Soul Cal top that didnt fit me. I'm a size 8 (and a pretty small one as well I even have to get size 6 sometimes) but I couldn't squeeze into the size 8 top that they gave me.
On their internet site the customer service is speedy and quick, I was given a top with a design fault and after ringing them up was sent a prepaid envelope to send it back in. Very nice. As for the customer service in store I cannot comment as I have never had a problem with them.
All in all a very good shop and website!
Up untill around 3 years ago I had never been into Republic, hadnt heard of it really either but im so glad that I found it! I have to say it is one of my favourite places to shop for clothes, which must mean its good as im very fussy about clothes and mainly stick to the same 5 or 6 places to go.
Republic has everything you could want whether you want just your everyday clothes or something abit more for a night out. Personally I use republic mainly for jeans as they have a wide selection also a wide selection of brands such as Bench, Crafted, Henleys, G-star, Fenchurch etc. so you have quite a good choice also the prices of there products are quite good, there are some jeans that cost around £110 which is ok if you have that much for one pair of jeans but these are usually G-star jeans which is one of the most expensive brands available there.
They also have some very good offers which have some great brands included they have a 2 for £50 offer and a 3 for £75 offer which includes items such as jeans, jackets and hoodies. They also have a 2 for £30 offer which includes some hoodies and mainly tshirts and shorts (more the shorts in summer).
They also have a good range of accessories, belts, bags, hats, plimsolls etc. Which are all reasonably priced.
I would recommend Republic to anybody who likes branded clothing. Also for people who want a good style/good brands for reasonable prices!
Until a month ago i was a republic virgin, as they did not have one in the city i lived in before. I am now however a complete convert - it is definately my favourite shop in the area i live in.
Republic stocks a range of clothes for men and women by a range of brands, including mico, bench and soulcal, in 6 - 14 ( or XS - L dependant on the brand) The items vary from jeans and smart casual office seperates, right the way through to evening dresses both flirty and sexy.
Items are reasonably priced - similar dresses in other shops on the high street would cost upwards of £45, and the stock is constantly updated and changed - week by week there is something new, so i never feel the need to wear the same dress twice.
The shop is laid out in a modern chic style, and the changing rooms are always clean and tidy, as well as the staff being courteous. Recently i had to exchange a dress as there was damage to a part of it, which i hadnt noticed. I had taken off the tag and didnt have the receipt, but were still happy to exchange without question.
Also, check out their sale rack - they often reduce their dresses to £10!
Republic stocks fashion for both male and female. They have many stores all up and down the UK and Ireland, and also have an online store. I will be looking at the online store and the clothes which it stocks. I am a regular visitor of this website and I must say that each time I visit I am more than likely bound to find something I like, whether I buy it or not is another issue on my limited funds however! They stock clothes of different brands including:
Villa and many more.
Looking more in depth at the Womens clothes from Republic they often vary, with there being some outfits that you cant wait to have, and some that you wouldnt dare to be seen in! Although I suppose this is down to personal preference. My favourite brand of clothing from this store is Miso, as I think they have some really nice dresses at affordable prices. However the one negative point which I do have about the clothes from Republic is that the sizes all vary, and just becuase you have 1 item of clothing in a size 8's doesnt mean that the next item you have in size 8's will fit. This is what makes buying online from this shop more difficult as it is hard to judge whether something will fit you are not. I have found out that Miso clothes are smaller than the average size, so if you are a size 8's, you may beed a size 10 in a Miso dress. However apart from the sizing issue I still like many of the clothes in store and online and I think that they are at a good price, especially as I can use my 10% student discount.
The republic website is very good, and easy to use. There are headings at the top of the page for each section, such as MEN, WOMEN, BRANDS, etc, which when you hover over them they bring up different options, for example, hovering over the WOMEN section and it brings up all the types of clothes and items you may want. This is especially good if you are in a hurry and need to be directed exactly to a particular type of clothing. It is very user friendly and is a good website to use.
Standard delivery costs £3.95, and there is also the option for next day delivery. I have ordered many clothes from this website and I have always chosen standard delivery. On many occasions the clothes have come the next day or within 2 days anyway, so I think I would defer away from paying more for the next day delivery option. The clothes come well packaged and I have had no problems with delivery. If the clothes havent fit then I have had no problems returning the clothes to a store.
This is often a section on the website which is my favourite part. When there is a sale on the website (they email you to let you know!) I am always on there seeing what items there are. The sale items are excellent and they often knock off a lot of money, so you feel like you are getting a bargain, I have often had many tops for £5 which have gone down form around £15! I also recommended this website to my friend and she is now also a regular shopper. If like me, you can't be bothered trawling through racks of sale items with women pushing you out of the way, then this website is definately for you at sale times!
Overall this is one of my favourite online clothes shops, which I use the most.
Republic is a fashion retailer that specialises in casual men's and women's clothing. They have stores all over the country and you can also order online from their website.
My fiancé hates shopping for clothes, but his wardrobe was in desperate need of updating (the holes are from old age and not moths!), as we've been together for nearly 4 years and he's only bought a handful of new things since we met! So after my failed attempt to buy him some new clothes from Joe Browns, I suggested he have a look at the Republic website, even though there is a nearby store in Kingston, I knew he'd prefer to shop online.
I think the website is very well designed and laid out, so it is very easy to find what you're looking for or simply to browse around. The main menus are split into:
- Just In: for all the new additions to the range.
- Women: menu opens up into more specific categories.
- Men: menu opens up into more specific categories.
- Offers: they have lots of deals, such as any 2 for £10, £30 or £50.
- Brands: they carry brands such as Bench, G-Star, Henleys and SoulCal.
There is also a Search function where you can enter either a keyword or product code, but type carefully as it won't suggest items if you misspell a word.
We headed straight to the Men's section to have a look at what they had to offer. I was confident that my fiancé would find something he liked, as I knew from previous visits to the Republic store what kind of styles they stocked. The shorts and combats are casual and baggy, so they're perfect for keeping cool and comfortable. They come in a range of colours and the usual camouflage pattern, so he ordered a few pairs. The prices start around £19.99, but they have quite a lot in the 2 for £30 Offer. He also found a few T-shirts and tops he liked, which ranged from £9.99 for a plain long-sleeved top up to £19.99 for an Addict T-shirt. Even though we were shopping for my fiancé, I couldn't resist having a look around the website and unfortunately for my bank balance I found a few things I liked!
The products are very well laid out and well described, but what I like best is the photographs of the clothing. You can enlarge the main image and then you can look at other images of the clothing taken from different angles.
The sizing guide is also brilliant as they have different sizing tables for different brands, so it took out a lot of the guesswork involved in choosing sizes.
It also tells you if an item is low on stock online and if that is the case then you can click on a link to see which Republic stores have that item in stock, which is really handy.
Ordering is very simple and straightforward; just add items to your basket and checkout. You register and create an account, which is simple enough and this allows you to view your order history. One complaint I have is that when you view the items in your basket, it doesn't tell you which items are on Offer, so it's not very easy to see if you've got enough items to qualify for the 2 for £30 etc., however I made sure all the Offers were honoured and the discount had been applied when I checked out.
PRICES & DELIVERY:
I think their prices are fairly reasonable, especially if you buy things in the Offers section.
As we'd spent over £100 our order qualified for free express delivery. However, I think their other delivery charges are very reasonable:
* Express: arrives next day if placed before 5pm Monday to Friday
- Free on all orders over £100
- £2.99 on orders between £50 - £100
- £4.50 on orders less than £50
* Standard: takes 2-4 working days for most of the UK
- £3.95 on orders less than £50
CONFIRMATION OF ORDER AND DISPATCH AND DELIVERY:
I placed my order in the evening of Thursday 4th June and I received a confirmation email straight away. 2 days later I received another email to confirm my order had been dispatched and it arrived later that day by courier, so speed of delivery was excellent.
We were pleased with the majority of items, although my fiancé was disappointed that a pair of shorts were too small, even though he ordered the same size as the other shorts. They were a slightly different style, however it still amazes me how the sizing can be so different!
He also really liked the Addict T-Shirt he bought, but after one wash in the machine it was ruined. The T-Shirt was white, but the small Addict label on the outside was dark blue and it ran in the wash, leaving patches of blue all over the T-Shirt.
So I looked into the returns procedure on the website and it said:
"All items can be returned to us via post within 14 days of receiving your order for a refund".
OK, so far so good.
However, I found the next part a bit confusing/annoying:
"Items returned by post can only be exchanged if they are part of one of our 2 for £30 or 2 for £50 offer. Please note an exchange will only be issued if just one item within the offer is returned; if both items in the offer are returned a refund will be issued back to the card used for payment instead".
None of the items we wanted to return for a refund or exchange were part of an Offer, so I assumed we couldn't return them by post. So a trip into Kingston to visit the Republic store had to be made.
Unfortunately they didn't have the shorts in stock at all in this store, so I couldn't get my fiancé a bigger size. I just assumed that all the stores carried the same stock as online, but they don't, so it's a good idea to use the stock checking system online!
They refunded the money back to my credit card without any question and I received the money within a few days.
Republic sell the kind of clothes that both my fiancé and I like to wear, so it's very easy to spend a lot of money, especially online! I also find visiting the actual store in Kingston a pleasant experience as it has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are friendly - the changing rooms are also nice and never have a very long queue. We were disappointed that we had to return some things and I found their returns policy by post a bit strange, but you can never get it 100% right with online clothes shopping and I think we did quite well. At least my fiancé has some new clothes to wear this summer!

The shorts my fiancé ordered were:
Soul Cal Jolla Short II - size 34 waist, these fitted
Soul Cal Crazy Camo Short - size Medium, these were too small (and actually the size guide says Medium = 32-34 inches and Large = 34-36)
i have been using this clothes website for a year or so now and i can safely say that this is one of the best value for money clothes site around. the site is very easy to navigate around, there are multiple images of all there clothes and these can be enlarged for a more detailed over view. The site offers clothes for both men and women, great designer names such as GStar, Henleys, Soul Cal, Bench, Drunknmucky and many more. the site also offers great deals such as 2 for £30 and 2 for £50, they also have a 'Sale' section which is great for end of line clothing at bargain prices. They also have all different sizes, which you would expect anyway for a clothing store, in addition the site also offers a size chart, which is great as for each brand of clothing there are different sizes for your specific size. Overall i would rate this site 10/10, the delivery time is fast, there postal charges are extremley cheap and sometimes free, offers are great, quality of clothing is second to none and customer service is excellent. The site also offers a newsletter that you can subscribe to via email and you will receive notifications of new and limited time only offers.
