Advantages: If you don't know what to do with your time, try these guys
Disadvantages: This space isn't long enough.
I decided to buy a 2Gb High Speed Sony Memory Stick from Savapoint on 1st June 2006 at a cost of £69.99 It was one of the best prices I could find online at the time, but I had never heard of Savapoint. I should have done my homework!
Nearly two weeks later (13th) I got an email from them saying that I needed to send proof of my address to a Mr Jim Stevens in their Customer Services Dept.
Since I had never experienced this with an online transaction, and it was extra hassle, I telephoned Mr Stevens to enquire what it was all about. He basically said that their bank (Barclays) thought I was involved in a fraudulent transaction to purchase the Memory Stick. I was amazed and slightly confused so I asked Mr Stevens for a contact name/department at his bank and some reference details so I could contact them directly and try and sort things out. He refused to give them and started getting very aggressive saying that he might cancel my order if I didn't do what he asked, since his bank had never been wrong in such matters. Considering he was their 'Customer Services' person he really hadn't got a clue on how to deal with the public. In the end he was virtually shouting at me down the phone and I actually put the phone down on him, something I rarely do to anyone.
I immediately rang back and asked to speak with a Manager. I was put through to a Mr Jang Sadiq. His manor was much more friendly and when I explained what had just happened he apologised and said that Mr Stevens was mistaken and their was no case of suspected fraud and their bank had not made any such accusation. It was apparently one of their standard procedures to request proof of address on high value items. Remember my total order value was no more than £75 with shipping!
Anyway I just wanted the Memory Stick so I emailed them a phone bill with my address on it as proof.
About a week later the product had still not turned up and so I called Mr Jang. He told me that it was sent out and it must have been lost in the post. Hmmmm! After a another week and some further chasing the Memory Stick turned up. It was now 27 days since the order had orginally been placed. But there was a problem..... they had sent me the wrong Memory Stick. Instead of being a 'High Speed' version as advertised on their website it was a standard one.
At this point I had really had enough and sent the product back and asked for a refund.
In short this company is a real time waster, they are rude, unprofessional and can't even send the right product.
Deal with them at your peril!
Summary: Unprofessional, unreliable company with cheap prices, but the hassle isn't worth it. Avoid!!!

- 14/10/06 I think their biggest problem is the unbalanced nature of Jim in their customer services dept, I real little Hitler! |

- 14/07/06 Aggressive customer services seems to be a growing problem. These people think they are there to justify the company, not to help the customer.
