I recently used Scan to purchase a number of items for a new pc build. Having shopped around a fair few other online retailers (Novatech, Ebuyer et al) I found Scan's prices to be the cheapest 9 times out of time.

Their web site is easy to use, with items easily found under different categories, and the information on each product was precise and in depth. The site also said if the item was in stock and each item is rated on a scale of 1 to 3 stars. 1 Star being a basic product, 2 being a mid range product and 3 being a top of the range product.

Unfortunately the site doesn't have customer reviews of products, which would have been handy, so I had to resort to using the Novatech and Ebuyer sites as well as google to get reviews on the items I was purchasing.

Because I am a member of AV Forums, I was eligible for their free delivery offer, whereas normally they charge for delivery, which was around £6.99, at least for the items I was ordering.

I found the ordering process a doddle, once all your items have been added to your basket you have several ways to pay for the items: Credit/debit card, Paypal and Google Checkout. They also offer a special insurance for some computer components which covers you if you are building your own PC. If you accidently damage the item whilst fitting it, within 30 days of purchase, then they will replace it. The charge for this was minimal, but it does increase if you are purchasing high value items.

You can select a delivery date, and if you order before 3pm then you can have the items next day between 7 and half 5 if you wish. There are also options for next day before 12pm, next day before 10:30 as well as Saturday deliveries.

Once you have finalised your purchase you will get an email confirming the order, but they also email you at every stage of the picking, packing and dispatch process to keep you informed which I thought was a nice and informative touch.

After the items have been dispatched you receive a City Link tracking number so that you can keep tabs on your items. I had every item delivered on the day requested, usually in the morning and in excellent condition. The items themselves were very well packaged to protect them which I was also impressed by.

If you took out the optional insurance then they also email you the documents should you need to make a claim.

Overall I have been very impressed by Scan, and the whole process of ordering right through to delivery went smoothly and I will continue to use them unless this changes.
