Inexpensive goods = poor service? (screwfix.com)

Disadvantages: Taken forever to get the order right

My dad has used Screwfix for many of years so when I needed a new bathroom suite he was quick to point me in their direction.

The bathroom I purchased was cheaper than most I had found in the likes of B&Q and better quality too, however, I feel like the lower price has led to substandard service.

My problems started when for some reason, it showed 2 bathroom suites in my basket, and I didn't realise until after I had pressed the submit order button, because I ordered on Christmas day there was nothing at all I could do to stop the order going through, and by the time they opened again, it had already been sent to the supplier.

I asked if they could cancel one, or even cancel the delivery but they said they couldn't and that two bathroom suites would be delivered, and that I should ask the delivery people to take one back with them, and that they may refuse so I would have to arrange collection.

Fair enough I thought, but in the mean time they still had my money... When the suite's were delivered 3 weeks later (a week later than expected), only one had been delivered, which wouldn't have been too bad if they had refunded my money. I had to call several times to get the refund.

When it came to fitting the bathroom, we discovered that they had not sent any fittings for the cistern, so once again I had to call their customer services who informed me that they were out of stock. Typical.

Took another week for the parts to come, and when we finally got round to taking the rest of the toilet out of the box to fit in, the base was cracked meaning that we are still without a new toilet whilst they sort it out!

The experience has left me somewhat wary of ordering from them again!!
