Advantages: Latest News, Has Been Improved, A Great Club

Disadvantages: Could Still Improved

I am a really loyal fan of Tottenham Hotspur football club and I try to get to as many home games as I can. Now that I live in Bournemouth it can be a bit difficult to get up to White Hart Lane regularly. In order that I can keep right up to date with all that is going on in and around the club, I regularly visit their website. I will try and give as detailed an account of all aspects of the site in this review.

The website it is the first place to have the very latest up-to-date news on the club and you get the official line on all of the stories. They do update the site very freqeuntly, although some parts of the site are left and that means that some out of date or non-relevant details are left on the site. There is a good example of this, as they still have a countdown for the new away kit on the site. The site has recently been improved and updated, both the speed and presentation have been made better as well as the general navigation around the site.

The sites homepage, lists all of the very latest team news for the forthcoming match. It also has new articles from the players in which they give their opinions on the season so far and their future aspirations. There is also a section for the latest injury news, giving in depth detail into their condition and when they are likely to be back in full training, ready to break back into the first team. There is a Spurs Diary, which lists the recent and future matches in all club competitions. To the right of the diary there is the very latest Premiership table, with Tottenham's position highlighted.

Throughout every page on the site, are the tabs on the left hand side and along the top. The tabs along the left hand side have links to everything on the site including: the online store, ticket information, members area and the clubs history. The taps along the top include a link for THTV and details on how to contact the club. On the very top left of each screen, there is a picture of a current Spurs star and sometimes a legend will appear. There are also a number of adverts, mostly offering finance and betting offers from some of Tottenham's sponsors and partners. There are no annoying pop-ups which is a good thing.

Every once in a while, I tend to have a look at the clubs history. The site has some really in depth detail on the clubs ups and downs right from 1885 to the present day. An interesting part is the different kits and strips that Spurs have had in their history. In the early days their home strip was once chocolate brown, before going through numerous changes to the white shirts and blue shorts that we have today. There are lists of every player to have pulled on a Spurs shirt, the legends and hall of fame, pictorial and year by year history and a list of the great games and the clubs honours.

The online store section of the website isn't very well kept up do date or really that well set out. The options that appear on the left hand side are a little confusing because many of them seem to mean the same thing and very often are. There is no advertising at all on this bit which I find a little strange considering the level that can be found on the main site. In general, the replica kits tend to be much more expensive than in your standard sports shop such as JJB. The other merchandise is value for money, because the only other place that you can buy it is at the expensive MegaStore.

If you are a Spurs fan, however commited, then you should visit this site every couple of days to stay in touch with the latest news. You may not always have to read many of the articles, because the titles and the little blurbs below should give you the important details that you need to know. The site does load pretty quickly and when you select a page or article it is fast in bring it up. If you are not a fan of our great club than you may as well not bother visiting the site, unless you are just a fan of the game of football in general. The site could still be improved, as it does fall below the standard of many of the other football club websites that I have had the misfortune to visit.
