This is a great site, apparently aimed at encouraging children’s reading. Too many kids sit in front of the television or play endless computer games these days and their literacy skills are suffering. This seems to be using the computer to get them to read more. Good on the organisers of this site. Check out their free stories to see what I mean. There’s a neat one, called ‘Little Mo’ for toddlers or beginning readers about a little panda who saves his mum. It comes in several versions including an animated one which reads the story out loud, whilst a highlight follows the text on the screen. Storyplus is the e-commerce book arm of a children's organisation promoting reading in children across all nations and languages. As I stated above this is a biased review, why because I am an author on this site so I would hope others will post their own opinions. E-books are a new thing and new things are normally picked up by the younger of us, well you can't get much younger than kids. The books come in many different formats, from plain pdf text, with illustrations/narration and animation, so far in both french and english. Of course they can be printed out.
