Not a fantastic hosting company. Having registered a few sites with them, I required a bigger hosting package and thought that they would be up to the task. I dont think that they meet the required standard for anything other than standard HTML hosting. I just wish I'd seen the reviews here before-hand.
There are three big issues with streamline; the customer service is very poor. You can only have 2 "tickets" open at any one time to log issues with them which really did ring alarm bells when I was required to notify them of my long list of problems. I suspect this is to deal with the sheer volume of problems they receive. Support tickets tend to stay open for 2-3 days at least before you receive an answer. I've never heard of this happening in 10 years of web developments. You never really get to the bottom of the problems either. Its just 1 sentence replies, they do what they think and tell you about it. Communication is a big issue for them!
Secondly, the billing system (as mentioned before here!), is terrible. They bill you for some service they think you need based on their decision to do it. A big one was that with the free domain name within the hosting package, I was billed to park this for £10, despite no email / call to state this would happen. The refund was straightforward enough, but its the principle of it.
Finally, the speed issues. I doubt very much if the servers consist of more than 2 physical machines as the MySQL server is a joke. 890seconds to create a database! The response times are equally bad which will usually result in a timeout. I've since transferred back to my old host to use their database server. Oh how I wish I'd read-up on here first!!!
In my opinion, these are the worst hosting providers in the world. They should be used as a benchmark for how to run a company badly. Their hosting is slow, and uses outdated technology, but their service is where they really go to town. Any issues are greeted with contempt, and I've been regularly told that I'm wasting their time. Do a search on google to see how they use customer credit card information, you might be shocked. They have a 'bill first, ask questions later' policy which relies on customers being very wary of charges on their statements. Do you want a fast, reliable service with excellent customer service? Then don't use StreamlineNot a company to deal with in any way. Avoid. Run. Never come back. streamlinereviews.wordpress.com will tell you everything you need to know.
DO NOT USE STREAMLINE.NET.
THAY WILL TAKE MORE MONEY THAN YOU AGREE AND GIVE YOU NOTHING. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A JOKE.
I signed up to Streamline. net because their website looked great. They created an account for me straight away, but they had forgotten to add the site builder to it (free app). When i tried to add it on, it said "cannot authorise your card" (they take £1.00, then refund it...apparently!). I contacted my bank to find out the problem. They [bank] told me "Streamline.net has 5 payments to them...£50,and 4 lots of £1. As my initial price was only £39.99, i was confused!
I called streamline.net up. after 20 minutes of being passed about departments, i spoke to the first person again! HE WAS THE RUDEST IDIOT EVER! (Andrew Connolly in case anyone wants to know).
WHEN QUESTIONED OVER THE PAYMENTS (should be £39.99, instead they took £54) HIS REPLY WAS "WELL THATS JUST TOUGH!"
I said i wanted to cancel the account and get a refund, he said "DO WHAT YOU LIKE, IM NOT REFUNDING YOU" and put the phone down!!!
I have reported them to their local Trading standards office.
I have written to them requesting an apology and a refund...i don't hold out much hope though. So i have now contacted my solicitor. I know its not loads of money, BUT THIS COMPANY IS BAD, and should not get away with it.
As with alot of people, it started out ok with streamline, but after a while I found them abit restrictive and expensive so transferred my account. About a year later they took £52 from my account for automatic renewal fees, when I phone up and said I left a year ago, they said they wouldnt give a refund. After a mini argument, I hung up and wrote them this message....
To whom it may concern
Close my account with immediate affect!
I am disgusted with the service you have provided me and the situation you have put me in!
I left you a year ago and you have charged me a £52 renewal I didnt want, surely your customer support should understand the basics - if I say I dont want a product and take it back to the shop, I can get a refund! but you fail to understand this point! It shows that taking the money is more important than treating your customers with respect.
They are many forums around discussing your service, I have tended to ignore these as isolated cases - but I shall now be joining them in making sure that other customers do not join streamline.net.
Since I've signed up with Streamline.net 3 years ago, I have never experienced a problem, and get this, my websites have received a 100% uptime since, I bet not many web hosting companies can brag about that. I've been happy enough with streamline.net I now have a total of four websites with them. The price of less then £50.00 a year you can't go wrong so it's always tempting to register a new hosting package.
Customer service has been pretty good to me. I usaully write emails late in the evening but I've always had a reply back by the following morning. The only downside to their customer service is you receive no help or support when trying to implement code or need advice on how something works such as PHP.
I suppose you pay the price for just the web hosting and domain name really, which is just fine for my sites at the moment. Once I move onto an ecommerce website though, I will be transferring two of my domains to my web designer I've decided to go with. I don't think I would be able to cope with no support on this very complex issue I know nothing about, hence the reason using a web designer.
Overall, streamline will provide you a reliable web hosting package (with non of this 99.9% uptime rubbish) plus a free .co.uk domain name of your choice. If you are a beginner the price is perfect for you, but if you need support along the way streamline.net don't provide it, you'll have to seek alternatives such as chat rooms and forums.
Be careful of Streamline.net and read the small print. To begin with I thought they were a good company but they seem operate an obscure contract of automatic renewal every two years which ties you up for an additional two years with no refund and they have been awkward and uncooperative in a dispute. They can only be contacted using a 0845 number during my dispute as they instantly shut down the internet access to my account controls when I blocked the automated renewal payment. They are not even very good value for money as I am now with another company http://www.5quidhost.co.uk for a fraction of the cost on a 30 day only contract.
This new host even provides a free hosting service for basic web sites.
I recommend that anyone using there service, should they wish to cancel in the future, should give notice of cancellation well before their renewal date if they wish to avoid similar experiences to myself.

Dont use streamline.net . the main problem is the customer service . I have used them for several websites. Their hosting packages are ok but the customer service is very very bad, a few times i have call the customer service staff have been rude and unhelpful. However, the major problem I have had with them is cancelling hosting accounts (to move the website them to a new -better- provider). They expect you to phone their cancellations department and go through the whole thing and wont accept an emailed request. One case in particular annoyed (and still is annoying) me: I emailed to cancel the hosting. I did not get a reply (this was before I knew calling them was the thing to do!) guessed it had been cancelled and moved the site but apparently because i had not phoned them the acccount was still active and they charged me £60 for the renewal. This was several months ago and i am still trying to ge the money back even though they actually have on recorded that i had requested the account be cancelled 2 months before the expiry date.
I would normaly class myself as rational... but in my personal opinion Streamline.net should be thrown out of a broken window in HELL!! That would sum up the level of service I have received. There customer service operators are way beyond rude(fact) and this has happened on many occasions which perplexed me as I am actually quite polite considering they overcharged me.... again. Biggest mistake signing up with these guys. If I could give them less than one star I would. On the plus side there control panel is good and easy to follow but God help you if anything goes wrong because you are likely to be met by an obnoxious techie. Maybe steamline should learn by 'pickawebs.com' chat instant messenger technical support. I spoke to them 4.30 in the morning and was amazed... now transfering all my domains. Grrrrrrreat!! :D
The way this company and it's employees operate is rude, unhelpful and downright underhand. I asked for domains to be cancelled via there support system and was given a phone number to cancel. I called the number (for which I was being charged) and was just left on hold for over half an hour by which time I gave up. I am an extremely busy person, with a job and a life, so I haven't got time to be on hold for god knows how long, waiting to ask Streamline to do what I had already asked them to do!! Shortly after this, I check my bank statement to find they had renewed the very domains I had asked to cancel and taken the money from my account without my knowledge. I called the phone number and waited, and waited until finally I got through to someone and explained what had happened. To my horror I was rudely told that I would not be receiving any refund - even though they could see I had asked for the cancellations - because its 'against company policy'. All I was asking for is some common sense to be applied but this company is all about taking your money and not about serving their customers. BEWARE!
Personally I would steer well clear of Streamline.net. I am still having account problems with them nearly 12 months after moving due to technical service issues.I have had the poorest of experiences with Streamline.net.
Hello again,I cancelled my Streamline hosting deal about a month ago (due to personal reasons) and it went through without a hitch.I don't get what you guys are so unhappy about.
I've never had a problem with streamline.net.I have never experienced slowloading, poor support. I have never had any issues with the company. Some people have said streamline.net are rude yet I have never had a bad conversation over the phone or via support tickets.I would recommend streamline.net to anyone.
Stear Clear. these people are rude, unhelpful and just hang up when you need support. When I initiated a transfer out they deliberately changed the nameservers on my domain and took my site down for 5 days.
3 years ago I was a novice web developer and chose Streamline for their price. I got a "Bulk user" account (10 sites) for £18(ish) a site. I thought it was great value.
A week ago I discovered they have been charging me for those 3 years for bits I didn't have. Silly me for trusting them. They have charged me around £350 for services I never ordered and never had.
I make no excuses for my stupidity in trusting them, but their invoices (until June this year) didn't even state what you were being charged for. You had you use one of your two precious support tickets to ask them.
In the last week I have had no contact from the "Billing" dept.
I can re-inforce all the other comments from this site re support, billing, lack of PHP support etc.
PS: The last time I clicked on their "Are you happy with Streamline" radio button (I answered NO) I got a Streamline logoed bar of chocolate in the post.
Would you eat a bar of chocolate sent from the boss of a company that you had just dissed?
I can't really add much to the well worded complaints already on this site.I registered a domain name and signed up for a premium hosting package and have not been able to access either.I've tried unsuccessfully to contact Streamline.net both sales and support teams, raised the (maximum !) two support tickets with no response and held on the phone for more than an hour and have got ziltch. Currently claiming a refund from my credit card company and investigating lodging a complaint through their local Trading Standards people.Don't use these people...Unfortunately, it's not possible to give no stars at all, perhaps we need red negative awards for such incompetent service.
