Advantages: huge choice, good offers

Disadvantages: orders can't be changed

Tesco Wine by Phone or online is a service where you can order wine by the case and get much better deals than anywhere else.

Range
There is huge selection of wines and champagnes available much more than in store. Occasionally some things are out of stock although all products on the site are always on order and can come back in stock any day or time so the best thing to do is keep on checking. If you can't find the wine your looking for on the site it means that it is out of stock.

Offers and Promotions
There are always promotions on a lot of them 50% / 25% off so you can save a fair bit. The best way to find out about offers is through the Wine Club. This is a totally free club available for all Tesco Clubcard holders (see my review on Tesco Clubcard for more info).

How to order
You can place your order via www.tesco.com or over the telephone, although you'll be able to speak to a human by ordering over the phone they are not wine connoisseurs and have the same information about the wine that is displayed on the website so they won't be able to give you more information on a particular wine.

How it works
The wine is stored in a central wine warehouse, once you place your order it is sent immediately to the wine warehouse where your order is picked and then dispatched to your nearest Tesco store. The wine is then delivered to you by the store on their home shopping delivery vans in the delivery slot that you have picked.

Make sure you get it right.
The main problem you may encounter when ordering wine via tesco.com is that once the order is placed you can't make changes to it, so try to make sure you get it right the first time. If you want to change the order you will have to cancel the order and place another one. This is unlike the homeshopping service that you may be used to, when a grocery order is placed it is held on the server and downloaded by the store the night before delivery whilst its held on the server you can make changes to it. With wine orders when they are placed they are downloaded there and then, thats why changes can't be made. Also there is a minimum order of 12 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of champange.

Thats about it really, its a good service if you like wine, i don't use it much myself buy my family do and they have never had any major problems. Great offers and promotions so you can save a fair bit and you can't get these offers in store. If i did like wine then i would definatley use this service.

Summary: tesco.com/wine, wine by the case

So do you work for Tesco or is there some other way in which this was an insiders view? I was expecting some dirt on how they store their stuff or evil trolls changing the labels but it read as a review by anyone who'd used the site.

Nice review but I'm not quite sure what part of that was an insiders view :o)
