Advantages: Easy to use and convenient

Disadvantages: Ridiculous replacement of out of stock goods

As a regular weekly customer at our local Tesco, I decided to try the alternative route of having the shopping come to me in the form of doing it on the www.tesco.com web site. In some ways this was a great success, but it was let down by a fundamental flaw upon delivery of the goods.

Firstly, doing your shopping on the Tesco web site is great for making sure you don't go over your budget, making things easier and more convenient and saving you petrol or travel costs, but I have to say, it is not so good for making sure you get what you order. By this I mean when I ordered a certain type of soup for my husband (the most fussy eater in the world) I expected to either get that or nothing and not pay for it. What I didn't expect, nor want, was for the out of stock soup to be replaced by not only another brand, but a completely different flavour which neither my husband, nor I, like. This surely can't be acceptable and is the single main reason why I have never used it again since.

Sure, this service is great for convenience and the website is well thought out and the delivery is prompt and reasonably charged, but the replacement of out of stock goods without consultation cannot be overlooked in my opinion.

Summary: I would advise going to the stor if you possibly can
