Advantages: Product range is very good and well priced

Disadvantages: Deliveries can be late

I have had several issues with Tesco over the past year or so, but I always end up going back to them because their prices and choice are good, and Clubcard points are one of my favourite loyalty schemes.

I think the choice at Tesco is excellent, their own brand products are competitively priced compared to other supermarkets and are excellent quality. I have absolutely no complaints about the products.

The problems I have relate to delivery, however it is fair to say that for every problematic delivery I have had, there have been at least two with no problems.

One regular gripe that I have is that I ask for my shopping to be packed in carrier bags (not very green I know, but it makes it easier to get the shopping into my flat, I don't like the drivers coming in, and I use the bags for rubbish) but often there are no or very few carrier bags. This is annoying, because what is the point of giving the choice if they just ignore it? Once the driver explained the store had completely run out, so fair enough on that occasion.

I have had quite a few slightly late deliveries, which again is frustrating but I can live with that. And Tesco are very fair about refunding delivery charge if you request it in this situation.

However once I had a delivery which was going to be two hours late at night, so I asked to reschedule. The next available evening slot was two days later, which annoyed me as I felt they should be bending over backwards to fit me in the next day but never mind. Two days later, shopping didn't turn up - I phoned and was told by a very helpful, very apologetic man that the girl who rescheduled hadn't pressed the "confirm" button. So I cancelled and went elsewhere. To give them their credit, the man was very apologetic and refunded my delivery and sent me an evoucher.

To be fair, I think this occasion was a one off, but late deliveries do happen fairly often, and I never get a call saying they will be late, I have to call them and ask where my shopping is.

Still, the product range is good, the delivery charges are reasonable if you do your shopping in advance - just don't make important plans straight after your shopping is due!
