Advantages: Easy, lazy shopping

Disadvantages: Some items can be difficult to find

I returned to full-time working after having my son and found it increasingly difficult to find the time for the weekly food shop so gave tesco.com a go and am so pleased that i did. The time it has saved me is amazing and although i have to pay a delivery charge it is only what it would cost me in fuel to get there and saves me a lot of hassle.

After a quick, free registration to the tesco.com website you enter your account by using your email address and newly created password and you are ready to shop.

The first thing you do is choose your delivery slot. This is a 2 hour slot you reserve whilst you complete your order. The prices range fro £3.00 to £5.50 depending which slot you choose. For example a weekend slot is more expensive than a weekday late night delivery. This slot is reserved for two hours whilst you shop. You can 'browse aisles' as you would at the supermarket or for quickness you can just type in the name of the product you want and it brings up every item associated with the word you have typed in. Simply select the quantity of the item required and click 'add to basket'. When you have finished your order you go to the checkout where they process your order. You can securely store your card details into the site so you don't have to re-enter your details every time you use the site. Dont forget to register your clubcard to the site too to earn those points and with tesco.com you can still earn green clubcard points by agreeing to have your shopping delivered in baskets without carrier bags.

I find the site quick and easy to use. The only problems i find is that without actually looking around the supermarket i sometimes forget to buy the simple things as you are not seeing them in front of your face as you would browsing a supermarket so a shopping list before you start comes in handy!
Secondly on the tesco site some items can be quite tricky to find. For example to this day i still havent found munch bunch yogurts or ragu sauces - both regular items on the shelves at tescos but i cant find them anywhere on the website so have put in a request to tescos to make them easier to find!

For me this system works a treat. To this day (touch wood) tescos have never got my order wrong, the delivery drivers have always been polite and helpful and they have always turned up within my designated time slot. This really has helped time-wise to get my jobs done at home. What could be better than shopping from the comfort of your arm-chair whilst someone else shops and packs for you!

As well as the food deliveries tesco.com also do gifts, music, books, electrical items, furniture, insurance, finance issues, dvds, stationery, outdoor items - pretty much everything you could want really. Again you pay a delivery charge but i find the items on the website are pretty cheap anyway so the delivery charge isn't really noticed. You can also print recipes from the food site too.

If you have never tried internet food shopping i highly recommend it especially if like me you are short of time during the week. It makes such a difference to me and i thoroughly recommend it.

Summary: shopping from your armchair - what could be better!!!
