Tescos Direct is one of the worst online services I have ever used - and I use a lot. Their initial customer service is fine, but of course that is focused on obtaining your cash which once achieved the result is an appalling level of customer service.
I purchased two wardrobes from the Tescos Finest Range. Once they were unpacked the problems became clear. Despite the 'Quality Control' stamps and signatures we found that the instructions, screws and other fixings provided were for a completely different product. Tescos assured me they would get me the instructions after which I could tell them which screws I needed - they were not at all willing to send the right ones at that point. It took another couple of calls and weeks to actually get the instructions which were finally sent electronically.
As I am not inexperienced at constructing furniture I began the build whilst waiting. The design of the furniture makes it very difficult to build (and it turned out I had done it the right way!). It certainly cannot be done by one person alone and not easily by two. Angles and spaces required almost a child's hand to actually put in screws, the holes did not line up and the over all quality was poor for the price (remember this is the Finest Range). In addition the instructions (very poorly written) told us to use screws that actually damaged the wardrobes as they were too long! It took a lot to get money off for that as the only other offer was to send some more wardrobes and I was not willing to start all over again.
After waiting for 2 months and still not receiving the screws we resorted to buying the missing screws. It was only when the wardrobes almost finished that the final problem appeared. The instructions did not include any information fixing the up the clothes rail and there were no screws for it. It is now nearly 6 months and the wardrobes are still without a rail. The responses from Tescos include 'what do you want us to do about it', 'our systems are down can you call later?', 'we don't have any supervisors', 'our managers/supervisors are only for us, they don't talk to customers', 'the product is no longer stocked so we can't do anything', 'can't you just buy some screws from B&Q?'.
I am now going to trading standards.
You may be lucky, whatever you buy might be right first time....then again, this is their 'Finest Service' so beware. I certainly won't be going back.

Summary: If things go wrong Tescos Direct don't think they should do anything about it

Good first review, In my view, I wouldn't completely disregard a company just because of one problem with some screws, even though the customer service does sound pretty bad. It might have been a small mistake made by the producers themselves and Tesco might not even have anything to do with it, hence, the people on the phone had no idea what to do.
