I joined the slammer affiliate program about six months ago.The way it was supposed to work was,you advertise their site on your website, and they pay 10% for any sales.Sounded good to me. When you make a sale, they email you to let you know. They give you a link to click on which takes you directly to your stats page.So far so good.In the months I was with them I sold £700 worth of hardware & software.A nice little earner for me of £70.Or so I thought. I tried emailing them to request a payment. No answer.I tried again and again but still the same. I then decided to ring their sales number.Constantly engaged. Here we go again thought I. Another rip off company. The next thing, their website disappears.Nice one slammer. No warning any thing was wrong. One minute they were there, then nothing.I kept trying their website address www.theslammer.com,until last week, hey presto they were back. Well, not quite. You just get one page, with the message that a firm called IGI Investments is in the process of acquiring the business. They will be back online in a few weeks they say. I look forward to contacting them about my £70,but I am not very optimistic about getting my hands on that. I don't know where I stand legally, but my experience of affiliate programs is that they seem to be a law unto themselves. ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE OWED MONEY BY THE SLAMMER?
I would like to warn anybody that is thinking of buying from this website, not to bother. Yes they offer free games, but they have debited my credit card over a month ago for the delivery fee, and the game still has not arrived when it was supposed to be here within a week! Also they offer to buy games back off you, so like a fool I packaged up one of my newish games that I don't play and sent it to the free post address stated. You are supposed to wait seven days then call them, where they will make you a cash offer for your game and send you a cheque. Surprise Surprise, they have not received my game! I admit that it was a bit stupid of me to send it, or I should of sent it by registered post. Don't make the same mistake!!!
I have known about theslammer.com for some time now. I was drawn to their website by an advertisement stating that they give away free computer games. I thought I would check it out and find out what the catches were. FREE GAMES Sure enough, they do give away free games on the condition that you pay £2.99 for postage. I bought a few games from this 'free section' over several weeks as you are only allowed to purchase one per week. Within about one week after placing my orders I received my games which were retailing in the shops for approximately £20 so I was extremely pleased. RESELLER PROGRAMME When checking out the website I also noticed that the products they listed were extremely cheap compared to their competitors so this could be my regular games shop. Better still was the 'Reseller Programme' they run. I joined up and within a week I was offically a reseller for theslammer.com and in return I would receive between 10-20% of all the orders I placed. I started to work on my friends to build up a little business for theslammer.com and make myself some money. Prior to Xmas I managed to drum up a lot of business (approximately £600) so this would have resulted in a healthy commission cheque. I followed the instructions they provided me with and my orders were all delivered on time and my customers were happy. However, I am still waiting to receive my commission cheque some 3 months later. I have contacted them numerous times and am told that the accounts department are processing my forms. I do not know if I will ever receive any cash from them but I will keep trying!! AFFILITATE PROGRAMME Last week I received an email from theslammer.com asking me to join their affiliate programe to earn 10% on all sales from my website. Following my experience as a reseller I did not think twice and deleted my email. Why should the affiliate programme be any different to the reseller programme? PS2 CONSOLES ONLY £150!! One weekend about a month ago I received my weekly email from theslammer.com with the latest special offers. The offer that caught my eye was a PS2 console for only £150. I was very interested in this and thought about buying a couple to sell on using the auctions. I placed my order and waited. The money was taken out of my account several days later. It would not be long now until I received my PS2's. WRONG!! I phoned up the customer service number (read below for more info) and asked what was going on. Firstly I was told that I was only allowed to order one PS2 - at no point was this stated on the website. I was still charged for 3. Anyway, I was told that I would receive a refund for the 2 extra PS2's that I had ordered. I was also told that my console would arrive in a couple of days - there had been problems with the courier service, or something. Anyway, it is now one month later and I have not received any consoles or refunds!! Trading Standards will soon be on their way to visit theslammer.com CUSTOMER SERVICES theslammer.com offer customer services by phone and by email. However, in all my experiences the email will never work. They simply do not reply to the messages you send. The phone system is also terrible. It takes an age to get through as nobody seems to be answering and when you do the representatives seem clueless. They always put you on hold - probably to increase their income from the phone call - and do not solve your problems. They will always tell you that they will call back. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!! They never phone back. CONCLUSION I wish that I had never heard of this company. They are completely incapable of running a professional outfit and deserve to be closed down. As soon as I get my money back I will forget that I ever heard of them and I suggest that you do too - just remember this review!! Stay clear and be prepared to pay a little bit extra for a lot
Theslammer.com has to be the worst online store I have ever been to, let alone the worst online gaming store. I have many a story to tell you about this supposedly 'excellent' gaming store. I first found this shop on the Internet when I was looking for places to pre-order a PlayStation 2. I found theslammer.com. They said I would get £30 off my PS2, AND that I would get it before Christmas. I got an e-mail from them later telling me about my order and that my PS2 would cost £300. Where had my £30 off gone?? Anyway, Xmas came....and went. No PS2. I e-mailed them, they said it would come late January. So January came....and went. Still no PS2. They said I wasn't likely to get it before March. So, I kept e-mailing them for updates, but I never got any replies. Fortunately, I found a PS2 for sale on the shelf in my local Toys 'R' Us, and got one from there. I e-mailed them to cancel my order. They confirmed it a couple of weeks later. I checked my bank account a couple of days later and look, £300 HAD GONE FROM MY ACCOUNT!! Theslammer.com said when I ordered that they wouldn't take the cash until I'd got it. They'd actually taken the money a few days after I'd ordered it!! I was livid. I called theslammer, no response. I e-mailed them, threatening to call the police on them, no response. Theslammer have STOLEN £300 from me, and I'm VERY annoyed about it. Anyway, while I was waiting for my PS2, I ordered Worms Armageddon for PlayStation in the Free games zone. To this day I still haven't got that game. So I have ordered a PS2 from them, they took the money and I never got a PS2. I ordered a free game, and I never got it. In my opinion, this is the worst store in the World. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!! THe only good thing about this shop is that they sell quite a lot of stuff, but that depends on whether you actually RECIEVE it or not
. UPDATE!!! I still haven't received my free game. :(
Ok second update and yes I need to re-write this op, but, until I do, do not use this site, I am still waiting for goods, where my credit card was debited two weeks ago, nobody answers the phone, is their something dodgy happening? UPDATE - Reviewer completely fed up with this site, they are so disorganised. The op has had bits added and a big gripe at the end. Please note, that due to the updates this opinion is not as smooth as usual. Do you drift restlessly through life looking for a bargain? Do you toss and turn wondering if today you missed the chance to pick up a steal? Well if you do, this is a site that you must check out. Why you wonder it sounds like something to do with that awfully staged “Sport” called WWF. Well it is not; there is no actual slamming on the site called the “Slammer”. But be careful, you will have to wait for your bargain and it may not be all that you ordered. What is this site? Well it is a site to purchase computer games, oh yes more e-tailing, virtual shopping and click and spend for your credit card, but there is no charge to register. So here is the summary. Prices – Lets start with the biggy, there are games for free, oh yes bargain hunters, free games, for the PC and the Playstation, sorry Dreamcasters, once again nobody wants to play with you on your games platform. Well, they say they are free, in fact you have to pay £2.99 for postage and packing, but I suppose that is fair enough. So in effect there are games for £2.99. Every couple of weeks the “free (£2.99)” games change and so for games collectors a regular visit is well worthwhile. The actual games themselves are not those classic games, generally they are those that will have received 70% or less in the reviews, but some are still worth a try at these ridiculous prices. Examples of recent £2.99 games for the PC are Grand Prix Manager, Trivial Pursuit and St
ar Trek Generations and I have seen Worms Armageddon for the Playstation. Other prices on the site vary, but in general you can expect to pay £5 - £10 less than the high street, but as all packages are sent via registered delivery, postage and packing will take up another £2 -£5, depending on the size of package.

The site – Well it is nothing special, in fact it is rather dull (a recent upgrade has improved it). There are very few features that keep you surfing, but this is a basic games shopping site and there is nothing wrong with the site’s design, it serves its purpose. The speed of the site has improved dramatically in recent weeks (previously it had been snails pace). Delivery - I have found this poor, I am still waiting for some “free” games ordered three weeks ago and you cannot expect a free game to arrive in the week that you ordered it. The delivery of the other games (i.e. not “free”) is better, usually within three to four days. The postage charged by the site is more than sites such as BOL and Jungle and about on par with Amazon. ** Update ** Delivery is terrible, they promise that games are to be delivered within 4 working days (unless they are "free game", they lie. I ordered Theme Hospital, 10 working days ago know, not a dickie bird!!! There is a supposed order tracking service, but everytime I fill in my order number on the section of the site, I get a message saying I will get a reply, but never get one. Oh yes, more gripes have arisen, when you order your "free games" it is pick and mix time, oh yes, apparently they cannot guarantee to supply these and you may or may not be lucky enough to receive, what you ordered. (If you do receive it be prepared to wait a month for it too arrive>) Customer Service – Again this is poor, e-mails are not answered promptly, (it has taken 3-4 days in my experience)
and the people answering them have little initiative. When enquiring where some of game I had ordered but not received were, I supplied the order number in my e-mail and the games I had received and all I got back was a request for the titles that I had ordered. Why, they could not retrieve the titles from the order number, I will never know. This may not seem a big gripe, but the standard of customer service offered usually reflects the general standard of the whole organisation. **Update** This is awful, e-mails are unanswerd and staff generally not very helpful when you telephone. Even more thumbs down than before. Payment – This site is one that takes your credit card number on registration. Now I do not like doing that as it is stored straight away and not via the most secure link, so again on this point “slammer” falls down, or is slammed down. Tee hee. **Update** The site requests payment for good, well before they are shipped, in my case payment came out of my account on the 21st February and I did not receive the goods untill the 5th March!! This is in parts dishonest. Product range – This is huge, what more can you say, although it is aimed at PC CD-roms and Playstation games, but there are also scanners and hardware and business software. But the orientation is towards games. But do not expect them to be delivered on time. Other features – Yep, there is more, free downloads of demos, a tip section, downloads of patches for games and a free monthly magazine. There is also a news centre, with previews of upcoming games releases. These extra features elevate the site above a straight shopping site and make it a whole computer software centre. Ok, so what do I think, well for the free games and offers, this site would be worth using, but its poor delivery and customer service mean that its overall standard is poor. But if you think price wins the day, use it, i
f you hate firms that provide a poor standard of service they may frustrate you. It would get 5 stars for price and 1 stars for service and 4 stars for diversity. **Update** Given the delivery, customer service, the lottery of the free game process and the payment problems, even though this site has good prices and a good product range, it simply cannot deliver. I have had problems three times now, so the problems are not a flash in the pan. Imagine ordering a present from this site. (Ohh I just did and imagined dissappointment!) One star, come on buck up your delivery.
The slammer.com Twice I have ordered from there free games section now, yes I am cheap but who cares u all would when u get the oppotunity. The point is I have ordered 4 games from there free zone and have only ever recieved 1. I have ordered two playstation and two pc games in total but have only ever recieved one pc game. The main reason for telling u this is because just be aware that u are giving out your credit card details to them and don't recieve your games I have e-mailed them back but I get responses saying that they will get back to me as soon as possible. My advice to you is don't get your hopes up. I am not saying u shouldn't but it is completly up to u.
The Slammer is more than just a games site, which is just as well as some of the prices I have seen are a bit steep!!. They also have links to downloads - both free and buy to download, and a FREE area where you can get both PSX and PC games for the price of P&P (curently £2.99). I have 'bought' a few free games from them in the past with no problems. They sent out the games with a few days, and include a reciept from the credit / debit card you specify (for the P&P). The Free games are updated weekly and they will even email you to tell you when they have done it. You can also now pre-order your PS2 through them although there is no metion of when it might arrive.
Not only do theslammer.com offer a reward scheme for online purchases but they also give away free games! Yes it's true! They really are free! Well strictly speaking they are not as you have to pay £2.99 for postage and packing. There are games to be offered on all formats. All that is required is that you join up and for this you will need to buy them online (they do have a phone number and catalouge for mailorder) a credit card and the address you give will have to match exactly the one for your credit card. Then once this has been done you are eligible to receive your free games. And they sell all the latest games on all platforms to top it off.
I believe that the price of computer games is way too high!, I understand being a computer student that it takes tremendous amount of time and effort to produce a game of high quality, but shorely the prices just increase the amount of people coping the game onto another CD using a CD re-writer!, this decreasing their sales and breaking the law!, to lower this I believe they should bring the prices down so that the price doesn’t seem too excessive!, they will probably make as much money if not more than they do with prices high!
Theslammer is a site selling all thing computer gaming related, its sells games and hardware for all major formats. Prices are reasonable and I have not had any complaints will any of my purchases or with their customer services. However, what sets them apart from other similar sites is that they offer FREE (that’s right FREE) games for The Playstation and PC. The games tend to be older titles and you are only charged for the cost of postage (£3). It's definitely worth visiting every now and then to check what the free titles are as they do change. I seem to remember Ridge Racer 4 (PSX) being on offer a while back, not bad.
There are lots of games sites, who promise much, but are short on delivery However there is a site that comes close to delivering what it promises. It quotes FREE games (playstation and PC) and while there is no charge for the game itself, they will charge you £2.99 for delivery. This is well worth when you think of some of the games that are available. You can select only one a week and they have 3-5 options available in each catagory. You can buy other games and a number of platforms and very reasonable prices. The delivery of these priced games is inclusive. In addition you gain points, which can be converted to money and deducted from the overall site. They also sell hardware, so all in all a very interesting site and definitely one to book in your favourites and visit regularly
