Do you ever think about the history of the vacuum cleaner? Have you had sleepless nights wondering who invented the vacuum cleaner and why? Or, how did people cope before the invention of the vacuum cleaner? Or do you constantly ask yourself that all important question, how much did a vacuum cleaner cost in 1937? No, me neither. I just wanted to buy one! I first came across Vacuum Cleaners Direct a couple of weeks ago. My old vacuum cleaner had just gone 'bang' (literally), so I wanted to find a replacement as soon as possible. Normally I would just go into an electrical shop, buy one and bring it home, but on this occasion I had a particularly busy few ... Read the complete review

I'm still waiting to find out!!) I read a good review about this site in an Internet magazine a few months back and because my vacuum cleaner was ready for "vacuum cleaner heaven", I did a bit of price comparison on the Net and this site came out cheapest, with good all-round service. My experience with Vacuum Cleaners Direct was a brief and happy one. As we needed a new vacuum I did a price comparison search for the model we wanted, a Dyson DC05 Absolute Turbo Brush. Vacuum Cleaners Direct came out the cheapest and as their site looked quite professional I decided to order from them. The price was £209.99 - a saving of £40 or £50 from high street prices. I ordered the model on a Thursday evening and it came 5 days later on the Tuesday morning. I was a little concerned when I didn't receive a confirmation email immediately but one did arrive a few days later informing me that the vacuum would be delivered after the weekend. The email was ... Read the complete review

Having decided on the excellent Dyson DC08 Hepa to replace my 9 year-old Vax, price comparison sites recommended VacuumCleanersDirect. With a great site design and one of the cheapest prices on the net, I decided to purchase with VCD. Ordering was easy and efficient. However a pleasant shopping experience it was not to be. In total I sent 7 emails to both customer service at VCD and 24-7electrical.co.uk (its parent company) in order to arrange a delivery date, for which I received absolutely no replies back. I had ruled out any fault on my part, by sending using both web-based and POP3 accounts, and also sending emails twice a day. There is nothing worst for ... Read the complete review
