      Highly recommended

When I got married earlier this year, I was a fairly low-maintenance bride. When we got engaged, my lovely man took me shopping to choose my own ring, and I fell in love with the first one I tried. Fast forward several months, and I had a day of wedding dress shopping with my only bridesmaid. We were booked into four different bridal shops, but again, I fell in love with the first dress I saw, and that was the dress I got married in. The veil, on the other hand, was a different matter altogether. I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere, despite going to many bridal shops, searching online, and even buying one which ended up getting sent back. That was until I discovered this excellent website offering reasonably priced quality veils in the exact style I was looking for.

For those people who aren't "in the know" when it comes to wedding veils, and I was very much one of these people when I first started looking, there are many decisions to be made when choosing your wedding veil. The easiest decision is the colour, as obviously it should match your dress, although this is sometimes difficult to do when you're sourcing your veil online and you haven't seen your dress since your last fitting and can't recall exactly what shade of ivory it is. In addition to this, there are different lengths to consider, along with how many layers your veil should be, the material it is made from, and whether you're having any decoration such as crystals or pearls. Finally, there is the consideration of what kind of trim you're having round the edge of the veil, varying in thickness and colour. Phew, that's a lot to consider for a wedding veil!

Personally, I only wanted the simplest of veils. As my wedding dress had quite a lot of detail on the bodice and down the back, I didn't want anything to detract from this, and I didn't see the point in going to the effort of getting someone to do my hair for me if I was going to cover it with a veil. I wanted a one layer, ivory veil, with a very thin satin edge, and a few diamante crystals scattered around so they would catch the light and give a bit of sparkle. This was to make up for the fact I had chosen not to wear a necklace. Amazingly, despite this being the simplest of veils, I couldn't find one anywhere, and sadly the one I tried one when I chose my dress had been sold without being re-stocked. This sent me on a mission searching for my ideal veil, without having to spend a fortune.

Thankfully, I stumbled across this website, Veils Online, where I found there was a selection of veils to choose from, and the option to customise your own veil if you couldn't find what you were looking for. I saw the exact veil I wanted, being a shoulder length single layer veil with crystal decoration, and I ordered some samples which helped me to select the right colour. The samples cost £3.99, but are well worth paying for because they help you to see the fabrics in the flesh to decide which colour is closest to your dress. I had already ordered a veil from another website which looked ivory, but ended up sending it back when it turned out to be WHITE (slight Bridezilla moment!), so I was willing to pay for the peace of mind that if I was ordering another one online, it would definitely be the right colour. I subsequently placed my order via the website, and awaited delivery. I can't remember the exact price of the veil, but it was around £40 plus £6 delivery, which is good value when you consider that bridal shops charge over £100 for a veil!

The website is easy to navigate, and has pictures of models wearing the veils so you can see what they look like on an actual person. There is also a gallery with real brides wearing the veils, which is great for inspiration and seeing what they will look like in a real setting. If you don't really know what you're looking for, the website has a section called "Choosing your veil", which tells you about everything you need to consider such as how many layers, and whether you want the veil at the top or back of the head (more decisions!!). The choice of veils is then separated by length (shoulder, elbow, fingertip or long), and there are additional sections covering birdcage veils, silk veils, and bespoke veils. Finally, there is a section showing the different decorative finishes (pearls or crystals) and a guide to the different shades and edge trims.

Placing the order was easy, it was a simple case of entering my card details, and submitting the order. I received email confirmation that my order had been received, and on the website it stated it may take a few weeks for delivery, which wasn't a problem for me as I'd ordered well in advance. Admittedly, the delivery did take the maximum time it stated on the website, but I had ordered around the Christmas/January period so I expected delays. If you had left ordering till last minute and needed a quicker delivery, it would be worth asking if that's possible, as the lady I was emailing about samples and so on was extremely accommodating and helpful.

When the veil arrived, I was absolutely delighted. Although it seems such a petty thing in the grand scheme of things, it was the final touch to my wedding outfit, and it was perfect. It arrived in a lovely box, with a clear lid, and inside there were directions for care and maintenance. The directions suggested hanging it somewhere where there would be moisture, such as the bathroom, to help any creases from transportation to drop out. I did this, using the clip-on hanger it had been sent with, and any little creases disappeared.

The veil attracted a lot of compliments at the wedding, I think it was quite refreshing for people to see something so simple yet eye-catching, because of the crystal decoration. The lady doing my hair said she hadn't seen such a nice veil for a while, and she loved the fact the material was really soft as a lot of veils are quite stiff and crisp. It was clearly a good quality product, and the slide went into my hair easily without falling out.

I would highly recommend Veils Online to anyone looking for a high quality wedding veil, without paying over the odds. They offer high quality products, which are affordable, and can be customised to whatever you have in mind. I'm so glad I found this website, as it rescued me from either paying far more than I had intended, or having to sacrifice what I wanted and settle for something else. Five stars from me.
