A great website with a great service

My husband is becoming quite the keen cyclist, and is starting to gather more and more of the kit that he needs to cycle more often and in different conditions. We recently visited a local cycling shop where he got himself a waterproof coat, and we felt that we were doing our bit for the local economy, however when he announced that he wanted a pair of cycling shorts and gloves, I thought we should check the internet for deals before buying anymore in our local cycling shop.

Well, it turned out to be a wise decision as the prices were definitely cheaper than in the shop, which is os often the case. One of the websites that came up at the beginning of my search was this one www.wiggle.co.uk offering very good prices on both the gloves and shorts. Never having heard of the website before, I scanned the internet for some reviews, and although I only found a few, they were all very positive about their experiences, and so this gave me the confidence to order from this website.

The website itself is an online bike shop, although it also seems to offer equipment and clothing for those interested in running, swimming and even triathlon. The website is very attractive and inviting, and certainly looks professional, compared to some of those that I looked at on the web. Despite selling other clothes and equipment, their speciality is bikes, and that is clear from the choice of bikes, including kids bikes on offer, as well as ever possible accessory for the budding cyclist from helmets to locks and so forth. They also sell component parts for the bike, as well as focusing on nutritional food for cycling such as energy drinks. One thing that attracted me to the website as well was the fact that it offered free delivery on most items, including to Northern Ireland, which so many charge an additional price for, since it isn't mainland UK.

The only thing that I found strange about my experience on the website, was that when I first started looking, I found both the shorts and gloves my husband wanted at prices that were extremely competitive. When I revisited the website literally 2 days later, the prices of both items had risen by a couple of pounds each, which I though was strange happening so quickly. Unfortunately because of this I only ended up getting the cycling gloves on the website, and got the shorts elsewhere as they were cheaper again. I decided to stick with the website for the gloves as it was a good price, but also it had the added bonus of being on topcashback, and I was able to get just over 4% back on my purchase, which many other cycling shops online don't offer.

My husband had already tried on the gloves in a shop, so he knew the size that suited him, however this wasn't really necessary as the website offered details about sizing for these gloves prior to ordering, as it told you measurements for hand circumference to use as a guide. It also tells you, before placing your order, whether the item qualifies for free delivery, and in this case it did, and there also seems to be a good returns policy, although thankfully we haven't had to use it.

I ordered the product on a Tuesday afternoon, and got an instant email confirmation about the order from wiggle.co.uk. I was very impressed to then see if arrive so quickly on the Friday of the same week, especially since it was coming to Northern Ireland. The product was well packaged and sealed.

All in all, I think the prices on this website are extremely competitive (even if they seem to fluctuate quickly) and the fact that there is added cashback is another bonus to using this website. I was very pleased with the communication, service, prices and delivery, and would certainly look to them again when my husband needs more cycling stuff.

A great site for anyone, from novices right up to pro's.

Well, what can I say - I'm just amazed that no-one here has reviewed this site yet! Perhaps they attract two mutually exclusive groups of people.. but even so, that's no reason not to review it after all!

I first used Wiggle when I organised a cycling trip with a friend. I was very new to cycling at that time, and consequently needed to buy everything right from scratch, including the bike itself, panniers, water bottles and their respective holders, helmets and so on. These were all available on the website.

It is very clearly laid out, with a menu running down the left side of the screen detailing subheadings - for example, 'chains', 'bottle cages', and so on. On selecting one of these, you come to a screen detailing over more than 20 and sometimes up to 50 different products under that subheading.

The range of products available is not the only useful thing - you can list all the items by a number of different characteristics, including Price, customer review, best-selling, and so on. Consequently this site will appeal to anyone, from the novice, through the bargain-searching family and right to the quality-seeking pro.

I found the reviews very helpful, also - these are written by people who have bought the items, and there must be thousands of them on the site. The last product I bought had over 110 reviews - and it was just a pair of swimming trunks!

Although the site mainly lists bike-related items, it also sells running and swimming items; there is also a specical 'triathlon' section of the website, which sells such items as tri-bars, TT helmets, and so on. There is also a special 'womens' section - I haven't had cause to use this myself, but from what I can see it looks just as good, if not better, than the rest of the site, in that these items are produced for and modelled by women only.

Postage is free for the 2-5 working day option, but you can also opt to pay for first class, which more commonly arrives within 1-2 days. However, a few days ago I ordered an item at 11am on Tuesday morning, selected free postage, and it fell through my letter box less than 24 hours later!

I also had course to return an item as it was the wrong size for me - again, I have had no problems with this service and I was promptly reimbursed.

Finally, something they don't tell you on the website - every now and then, when I ordered something boring like a bottle cage, there was lurking in the bottom of the box, a small packet of sweets - such a nice gesture and at no extra cost!

Customers who buy frequently from the site also receive discounts - a 5% discount on every item not already discounted if you spend over £100 in the previous year; and a 12% discount if you spend over £500.

Any negatives? Nope. Not that I can see, anyway!

This is a great site, which also delivers worldwide - and is definitly one you should consider buying from, and whether it be swimming goggles, running shoes, or a full-out time trial bike, you're likely to have not only a good price, but a good experience too. I always have.
