Advantages: cheap , easy to order, and secure on-line, shopping from the comfort of your computer! No rumaging through the piles!
Disadvantages: missing out on the whole 'shopping' experience...laziness may rear it's ugly head!
What a Gem of a find! I can?t remember how I came across YOOX, but boy, I?m glad I did! In a nutshell it?s an Italian run on-line project that sells designer clothes and accessories at shockingly cheap prices! Unlike net-a-porter?s website?the layout is simple. (Oooh cheeky!!) Once you register, you select either male or female, and from there on you can either select a designer name, or clothing item. For instance, you can select Gucci trousers, or just trousers, or just Gucci on its own, and you will then see what they have to offer. **Watch out for the disappearing items** The thing that I wish I had of known earlier, is that the items on YOOX sell out fast! I was about to buy this ?Just Cavalli? top on Monday, and by Tuesday, they had sold out! But this also hazards another problem, because, if the item is not selling (even if its popular, maybe because its too expensive) it might eventually drop down in price. I saw a cashmere jumper that I was going to purchase at the grand price of £215, now it costs the princely sum of £108! So find your item, put it in your dream box ( a place where you can keep track of all the items you like/want) and look back on it form time to time to see if the price has dropped! It?s kind of like a game of poker, and knowing when to fold, i.e., when to buy your item!! So you have two options- either buy while its still there, or, hope no one else wants it, and let it wait, and watch the price drop! But use common sense, i.e., you spot a top that costs £12 by a popular designer such as Ralph Lauren, don?t expect this top to drop in price, buy it while you can, or else I will! **Sizes** Another problem is this limited sizing. Unfortunately, YOOX class a size 18 as XXXL!!! (I suppose they have their reasons!) XXS is a size 4 ( I?ve never even heard of a size 4 before!!! ) XS is a size 6 (I wish!) S is a size 8, M is a size 10, L is a size 12, XL is a size 14, and XXL is a size 16. And women?s ling
erie only goes up to sizes 14-16. Also foot size 9 is classed as XXXL; so don?t be disappointed if you have bigger feet than that. Luckily enough they do have half sizes, so being a 7 and a half I?m ok!! With regards to sizes, there always seems to be availability in sizes 6-8, and sizes 10-14 seem to sell out quick?. so?. get in there! **Costs and Delivery** . My advice is to register with the e-mail newsletter service, because at certain times delivery is free, and so use that time to stock up on all the goodies you?ve spied! YOOX take Visa and MasterCard, but Visa electron cards need to be authorized by the issuer. It is a secure site, (note: all sites that have a secure connection when entering personal/bank details start with https on the address bar.) You can pay by cash on delivery, but there is a cash on delivery supplement of £4. But note there is no delivery charge for returned items! The standard cost of delivery is £6, which I think is quite reasonable, and they say your good will arrive in 3-6 working days. I have ordered six items altogether from YOOX, and every item has come on the 3rd day, so I am very impressed with that service. Express delivery is £14, which I think is a bit steep and the estimate the delivery within 1-2 working days. My advice is order your item(s) on a Monday, so you can be sure to have them by the end of the week. When you purchase an item, YOOX will send you an e-mail conformation, with a tracking number on it, my advice is to print this sheet out, in case of computer failure, or worse! You can track your item(s) through the UPS website as well, which I found really handy. And if you have any queries regarding your item, you can also ring up UPS, give them your tracking number, and they will locate your item(s) for you, I found the staff really friendly. Its fun to watch where your item(s) are? It leaves Bologna, and you then see when it travels through France etc, which gives you piece of mind! **Vinta
ge** Its great to find a website that sells cheap vintage clothing, and YOOX have a good selection. They have vintage clothes such as Dior, YSL, and Pucci. And often have collections by famous vintage designers. I?ve found most of the clothes to be on the expensive side, but if it?s for a special occasion, and you find an item that is really nice, then you will probably think yourself lucky! **YOOX Code** A YOOX code is something you gain if you become a ?loyal? customer, so to speak! Whenever you next purchase an item, this code will appear in your box, allowing you to take advantage of certain promotions or discounts. I think this is a good incentive, and other on-line clothing shops should follow their example! **Designers** Here is a list of some of the designers on YOOX: Dolce and Gabbana Prada Gucci Fake London and Fake London genius Ralph Lauren Juicy Couture Maharishi Marc Jacobs Fendi Paul Smith Versace But, although there are all these designers, it doesn?t necessarily mean they have a lot of stock for each, I?ve found that Fake London and Maharishi are always well stocked, but Prada and Prada sport only have limited items, in limited sizes, so don?t get too excited! ***Great Finds*** I?ve compared some of the prices of clothes found in the designer high street shops in London, to the price of the same clothes on YOOX. Women?s Fake London Denim Jeans size 32, retail in Selfridges London at approx £169 Women?s fake London Denim Jeans size 32 retail on YOOX at approx £46 with P+P!! Men?s Maharishi Snow Pants S size plain design retails in Selfridges at approx £200 Men?s Maharishi Snow Pants S size retail plain design retails on YOOX at approx £60 **I have worked out that on average you save nearly 70%. The clothes have a good picture as well, you can clearly see whet they look like, although nothing really beats seeing and feeli
ng something for yourself, because, sometimes the texture of the material can put you off an item of clothing. Have a look for yourself anyway, there is loads of info on the website, I?ve just tried to tell you my personal opinion of the site, and how I found it to be, I hope this has been useful!**
