Admittedly, it still has a few minor problems with some of my hardware, but Mandrake 7.1 is easy to install, well supported, and , in short, is ideal for anyone looking to dabble with Linux without having to go through hell getting it up and running.

Mandrake 7.1 handles the lot. I wrote an opinion about mandrake linux 7.0 and well when i heard about 7.1 being released i thought how could they improve this operating system. Well They have done it again. I installed it this morning with no fuss, no hassles what so ever. It picked up my graphics card, my zip drive (USB), my cd-writer, my sound card basically everything. I paid under £30 for the operating system from a well known internet site and i have to admit that it was worth every penny. You get three cds on installion, one extra applications and the source code. You also get partition magic, three reference books, and many more books on the cds. This version has excellent ...
