A Windows Vista Service Pack that Microsoft are charging for

Recently my friend upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, so I decided to try out Windows 7 on her computer. After using the new system for two weeks, I decided to write this review. I have Vista on my own computer.

      THE GOOD...

      -Moveable gadgets
On Vista the gadgets (a clock, calendar, etc) are fixed to the sidebar on your desktop. In WIndows 7 you can move the gadgets anywhere you like on the desktop.

      -Reliable
I only used the software for two weeks, but it never crashed, froze or needed a reboot. To be honest, my Vista rarely freezes either, but Internet Explorer is very sloooooow on my computer- Firefox and Opera work just fine. On Windows 7, Internet Explorer worked just fine.

      -Vista compatible applications
All of the applications my friend downloaded or used were compatible with Vista. This shows how similar Vista and 7 are...Almost like 7 IS Vista, but an improved version.

      -Faster than Vista
I haven't used XP in a long time, so I don't remember how fast it shut down, but Windows 7 definitely shuts down faster than Vista and my friend commented on the same thing. The software starts up faster too. I always leave my computer on standby because I'm too impatient to start it up every day, but if it was as fast as Windows 7 then I would be far more inclined to turn off my computer, at least at night.

      THE BAD...

      -A working Vista
People (including Microsoft) say that Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. They look and work practically the same to me minus a few enhancements. It is disgusting that they released Vista and then expect us to buy it all over again because the original product was faulty. You would think that the Service Packs would have upgraded Vista into 7, but then Microsoft could not have charged us.

If you still have Windows XP then I recommend that you upgrade to Windows 7, but keep your XP CD handy just in case you dislike Windows 7. If you still have Vista, like I do, then I suggest that you stick with it. There is not enough reason to pay a hundred or more pounds for a few extra features that you can easily live without. I have given the product three stars because it works, but I would have given it four or more if it was not just a better version of Vista.
