I haven't been able to find a review on here for Mac OSX Tiger, so here's my little bit, well its quite long actually. I've been using my first mac for almost 6 months now, so I've got used to the operating system now at first it was a bit daunting, from using windows pc's for years, and knowing my way around it pretty well. I considered myself to be pretty good with computers and i was able to solve any problems I had myself however... I had really had enough with the amount of spywear and viruses infecting my computer, constantly having to run programes such as Norton, that would kindly tell me that i had a virus, but then also tell me that it ... I'm new to the world of Apple Mac, well sort of. I did use an Apple II when I was at primary school! Since those days I've been aware of Mac OS and the loyal fanbase it has based over the years on its stunning graphics. Fed up with Windows lack of speed, and weaknesses where viruses are concerned I decided it was time to stop buying Microsoft products. I am from a UNIX background, but the wife and kids only knew Windows. I couldn't see Linux as the way to go with too many varieties and complicated setups. Then I read that Mac OS X is now fully UNIX certified, which came as a bit of a surprise. My wife needed a new laptop, so we chose a MacBook, which was ... Read the complete review

I should start off by saying that I am a Mac fan. (Although having been to the Expo at Islington, I should probably downgrade that to 'keen', rather than fan - it was something akin to being at a Star Trek convention, I should imagine, never having been to one - really - promise!) And I had been a little timid about upgrading from the old OS 9, on my 2 year old iMac. But, he who dares - that and the opportunity to borrow the cd from someone who had recently purchased a PowerBook - made me take the plunge. That was two months ago. A fair testing time. And here are the results. The Mac OSX beats the Mac OS9 hands down. End of ... Read the complete review

Having head both good and bad reviews if OSX i was dubious about installing it on my new G4. Now i find it hard to do without. OS X is a complete rewrite of the mac system, and the first thing you notice is the interface. It's very strange at first to anyone who has ever used previous versions of the Mac OS- It's all very 3D and seethrough. Apart from the actual look, there's something new at the bottom of the screen, called the dock. This translucent bar keeps in all your active applications, favourite applications and folders. It's also where the trash is kept, and instead of collapsing pages like in OS9.1,you can send them to the dock with ... Read the complete review

I had to write about it eventually. I couldn't not write about something this important. Many people are saying it's the most important thing to happen to the Macintosh platform since PPC chips were installed. I'd say that's probably true. We've all been waiting with baited breath to stop the sniggers and for Apple to create the truly great OS which will silence all the critics and Windows users. The previous incarnation has lasted, pretty much faultlessly, since 1984, so why do we need a new one? Well, sometimes a change is better than a break. And instead of breaking up with your slightly less solid Mac and going over to the Dark Side is something ... Read the complete review
