Advantages: Beautiful, User Friendly, Calming!
Disadvantages: Memory Hungry, Not Fully Backwards Compatible, A Steep Learning Curve from previous OS's
Just get this now and put it on your Mac! You'll think you have a new machine. No, it doesn't actually revolutionise the way you use your Mac but it makes it a hell of a lot more beautiful to look at as well as giving you a lot more functionality compared to previous Mac OS's. Everything is simple and intuitive to use. The addtition of back buttons on menus means that you don't end up with piles of windows strewn across your screen. They also slide and float on your screen as you work with them. Fonts are shadowed and raised, your backgrounds look like superb and your screensavers are displayed like dreams. All these things add up to making OS X seem as if its been designed by hippies intent on making your Mac an instument of world peace. No longer do you feel that you're battling with your machine, its now there to finally help you. One of the best things is the dock. It sits there at the bottom of your screen and springs into life when you want to start up your apps. You'll spend ages at first just passing your mouse over it to see your icons zooming up as if they want to be patted! Perhaps the only downsides to OS X are that its memory hungry and that it won't natively run older Mac software and instead runs them in "Classic" mode which is effectively an OS9 session within OS X. Even when you do run older software in this way you may find that not all of your software's functions work. If you do want to upgrade and enjoy OS X then you need to be prepared to upgrade all your software to the latest versions. Those problems aside, OS X is just a pleasure to use.
