... computer professional. I fully believe that it is the only good operating system that Microsoft ever produced, and I can see already that XP is going to be another 9x. Not only is 2000 more stable and better made, it is also still supported by Microsoft, so they are still improving it even today ? service pack three came out recently. ...more

Crowned Review Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional: The best ever! (886 words)

When Microsoft launched Windows 2000, I thought it was just another bloatware with a few extra frills. It wasn’t long until I actually started using a registered version my brother got me from the Promised Land, was I proved wrong. To start off, Windows 2000 is a 32-bit preemptive multitasking operating system, build on the lines of NT Workstation 4. Logically it’s the successor of NT4 and should be called NT5, but I guess Microsoft wanted to portray this product as a gateway OS to the 21st century. Enough of the lame talk; lets put Win2K under a microscope and try to appraise what it has in store for the standard corporate user. For ...  Read the complete review

Me being the young hasty idiot that I am, ripped open the plastic wrapping shoved the CD in the drive and let it go. Now, normal clever people would take some time look at the Internet or other people's recommendations, it was definitely a case of "It's new it should be better therefore what can go wrong?" I'm pretty sure that was my exact thought process. Hey this is going quite smoothly, wait what was that something about check these drivers for updates and these programmes may not work, oh it doesn't matter I will get a patch of the internet and all will be good. WRONG Firstly I must admit that I am not an IT ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional: Windoze 2000? Methinks not. (1595 words)

I guess by now everyone has seen the oh-so-witty play on Microsoft products/slogans that are doing the rounds in the web. Things such as Micro$oft and Windoze etc have never been particularly funny, but are they justified? Are the products actually overpriced, sluggish bloatware? Well, judging by Windows 2000 the answer is a resounding maybe™. I received my copy of Windows 2000 a few days ago and I am yet to experience a single crash. I always thought that Windows 98 was more stable than people gave it credit for; it only crashed every so often, yet Windows 2000 has proven to be absolutely rock solid. When installing and setting up Windows 2000 I had to ...  Read the complete review

Where to start eh? I have to admit I've been a sheep that's followed Microsoft's every move for years now. As well as having Windows 2000 now I've also fiddled with DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98 and 98SE, Windows ME and Windows NT 4.0 a little. And as far as I'm concerned my favourite has got to be Windows 2000. You see for me Windows has always crashed. It's always been a matter of switching the computer on and then waiting to see what would go wrong next but for the first time I don't have to worry about this any more because Windows 2000 appears to be a very stable operating system. Windows 2000 is one of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional: The best Windows yet! (664 words)

Hi! At first I decided to install Windows 2000 Professional as the second operating system in a dual boot machine. The first operating system was Windows 98 which I had used for at least two years without much fault I might add. I found Windows 98 to be very reliable over the years, although I did experience the dreaded BSOD or blue screen of death to the uninitiated! Try running Visual C++, Interdev, SQL enterprise manager and about ten instances of Internet Explorer and you will see what I mean. Anyway, after experimenting with Windows 2000 I found it that good I decided to completely wipe my Windows 98 installation and install Windows 2000 solely. ...  Read the complete review
