Advantages: Dtiver support is good, all software is written for this now
Disadvantages: Stable as a elephant on a rope bridge
Windows 98 the succsesor of Windows 95. What it gained in new features it lost in stability. It is the most unstable OS ever to enter the Market. Windows 98 has the best Driver compatability on the market so its hard to see hwy it can be so poor at well staying alive. Even on a fresh install programs crash as soon as they run, then one crash causes another program to go and then the OS will lock up. As strange as it sounds 2 years ago it seemed pretty stable, but now its just so pathetic. I think now the hardware has out grown the software and Windows ME cannot come quick enough, even thought its still win 9x at heart. I would strngly recoment using Windows 2000 proffesional if you are not a hardcore gamer cause you wont regret the fact that your work will be safe from corruption and you wont be headbutting the wall when windows crashed after 10 pages of your English essay. You should of saved it people will say untill you tell then it crashed while you were saving it. Dont use it dont buy it now, get 2000 or wait for win ME.

- 15/12/00 Another thought,Win.ME`s restore does`nt work from DOS,only with Windows booted,something of an oversite?We need a DOS restore programme that does`nt need a tape streamer. |

- 15/12/00 Panther, don`t know about your situation, but mine seems to be based around software conflicts.Win.ME seems better but the driver database is larger. What does this prove, nawt.PC`s generaly stink. The Amiga OS and architecture was better, but that`s gone.....for now,I`m told it will be back. |
