Advantages: Less bugs than previous versions, Bigger range of drivers to support new hardware, Bundled extras are superb

Disadvantages: Still not perfect

Microsofts' latest version of windows may appeal to several users, especially those who are currently running Windows 95. In terms of new features, there is little that has been added. The main benefits that Windows ME offers are upgrades and tweaks to existing products available in Windows products.

A wide range of problems have been addressed, and whilst a wide range of home users will not notice these additions and tweaks at basic level, it is worthwhile upgrading to ME for web usage.

However, there are still remaining problems remaining, which is in fitting with the nature of any operating system. With all the developments in mind alongside these problems, there are not many alternatives to home PC users, and as a result of this, I would recommend this product.

I've been using Windows me for about 4 months now. I was forced to upgrade from Windows95 OSR2 after a virus update screwed the machine.

It has been more stable than 95 but I am very disappointed how little support there is for it. For instance, when I phoned Toshiba support for a copy of their DVD player software I was told "We don't support Windows me"!

Much of the software around never mentions "me" when they list the supported operating systems so you have to take a chance.

I will probably upgrade to Windows 2000 or XP but I think I probably need a faster processor (currently PII 300mhz) and more memory (currently 128meg).
