ME is basically Windows 98 TE (third edition) - the idea from redmond is, if you cant get it right first time, try try again!

Theres loads of new things to play with in this new OS update though - MS have bundled in a number of new applications. THese include Media Player 7 (which is a bit strange) and video editing software.

The good points to note are:

1) the ability to drag any disk, or the My Computer icon, onto the start button. This provides a menu for the entire contents of the disk, making finding a file considerably faster than opening loads of separate folders.
(also can do this in 2000!)


2) Shutdown and startup are now LIGHTENING fast!!

3)DOS is virtually done away with, or at least hidden well :)

4) Windows 2000 interface - MILES better than the 98 one

5) System Restore -it is a new feature that backs up vital system files when the machine is idle. Taking a system snapshot every 10 hours. If the system stops working, and providing you can at least reboot - you can fire up a wizard and choose from earlier saved system states. Only damaged system files will be repaired, documents and emails created after the snapshot will remain unchanged. Pretty useful.

BAD stuff...

1) Bills got something to do with it :(

2)Min specs are up to 150Mhz now..

3) its not 2000!
