Seems I'm not as impressed by this as some of the other reviewers. Unfortunately, it was installed in our brand new computer ...and I had misgivings as soon as I realised that. I remembered all the hassles we'd had with a beta version of Windows 95 all those years ago. My husband tried to offer reassurance and uttered words of comfort in my ear. ... Read the complete review

Microsoft's 2000 home version of Windows - the 'Millennium Edition' offers very little progress over previous versions and can only really be recommended to those using Windows 95 or earlier. The improvements are too small and the added features too trivial to make it a particularly outstanding piece of software. The bold promise "Let ... Read the complete review

well i thought this was the worst windows ever made. I started using windows os from version 3.1 and carried on upgrading. But when I came to use this version i thought this was one of the worst one's ever made by microsoft. The Original OS came with a PC i bought and soon after I started using it crashed. As it started happening very often I had ... Read the complete review

There is a lot of reviews for this, but Operating System. From a technical standpoint, this is the worst Windows Distrobustion Ever! It is riddled with bugs. Windows95/98 is more stable than this!! If your system can handle it, go ahead with Windows2000 or go directly to WindowsXP. However, if you have waited this long.. wait a little longer. ... Read the complete review

When I last replaced my old Windows 98 machine (Windows being about the only aspect of the Patriot Book PC that I was satisfied with), I found an 'all new, singing and dancing' operating system waiting for me. So in I went with a good level of enthusiasm. It took me about an hour to realise that not only was the 'new and ... Read the complete review

If you are one of the owners of the most common aged computers out there (about 3 or 4 years), I can predict that the majority of you will still be clumping away on Windows 98. While it has done its job well, It may now be time to upgrade as Microsoft are stopping the support of this operating system this year. Bet you did not know that ... Read the complete review

I am amazed why anyone would choose to upgrade from Windows 98 which is the most stable version of windows that Microsoft has ever created. The only upgrade you should consider is to 98SE. Now we come to Windows ME hmmm! firstly it does not have adequate support for certain hardware items i.e Lexmark & Primascan Scanners and some ... Read the complete review

I have used various operating systems before including Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 plus and Windows Millennium Edition. I have to say windows ME is the best operating systems I have used so far for set-up and installation. When I bought my first computer it had windows 98 second edition installed and although I experienced some problems with it,many through my own inexperience, generally it was ok. For people who don?t know what an Operating System is, it is sort of the program, which tell the hardware what to do, when software wants to do something to it. It's sort of the middleman with a lot of extra features. It interprets what the software says into something that the hardware can produce for use to see and manipulate. ... Read the complete review

Having upgraded to Windows ME from Windows 98 recently I was initially impressed by the apparent improvements within Windows ME. The first time I started up my new ‘ME-fied’ computer not only was I greeted by the customary welcome ‘look-what-windows-ME-can-do’ video, but also by an incredibly fast boot up time. This is all ... Microsoft release yet another version of windows. The Mellinium Edition. But this time there are real reasons to upgrade from older versions. The main reason is that I have found it more stable, and so have many other ME users. The layout and style is still built arround the previous windows 95, as with 98, but their is a much better menu system, ... Read the complete review

Well, yes it is DOS with pretty pictures on. The Microsoft Sound is better, more relaxing, but I'm sure everyone changes that as soon as they get it. It's really a matter of how much you like this OS; if you like it then you will stick with it until hte next version comes out or yoyu can hate it and buy Linux or BeOS or something else. ... Microsoft's Latest version of their Home User Operating System, Windows Me, has very few features added, and one very powerful feature hidden.
