with this o/s i found that microsoft have a good intention but when it comes to fool proof durability, it is flawed. i used nt 4 for about six months, and re-installed about ten times, because of the bugs in the system, glyches and sometimes strange behavour. When microsoft originally compiled nt 4, they seemed to look at it like ... Read the complete review

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation A lot of people haven?t heard of Windows NT, probably because it wasn?t used as widely in homes as 95 and 98 were. Installing Windows NT 4.0 My copy of NT was bootable, so it was a relatively simple installation. I?ve never got the floppy install to work. It starts out with a blue and yellow ... If any of you work in a development environment, you will know that NT 4 is a bare minimum for working. When I first joined up with the development house I work for, I had a Pentium 2 with 128Mb or Ram and Windows 95. Sounds good enough doesn't it? Well no it wasn't. If you are gaming at home then it would be a ... Read the complete review

If Microsoft had their way we'd all be using Windows NT now - their flagship OS product . Gone would be the troubles of the old pesky users of Windows 98/95 , no more problems with people complaining about crashes and poor stability and a new reputation . The problem with Windows in general as everyone knows is that it's ... Read the complete review

NT4 was given to me by a friend who found it mysteriously bundled with his new PC and he didn't need it. I've installed it several times on a dual boot system running along side Windows 95 and later 98 but now I fail to see what the point is. I have a small three computer network in my bedroom which is basically just for ... Read the complete review

You'll not find many home computers with NT 4 installed on them, mainly due to the fact Win 98 is the cheaper option for the PC Manufactures. A real bonus over Win98 is that you cannot get direct access to the hardware. By disabling the direct hardware access a lot of viruses will not run correctly making it more secure from the word go. This is the business end of the microsoft operating system and as such is not really for the home user. However, it is really a beauty for the business user as it is a stable operating system i.e. does not tend to crash as often. It looks very much like windows 98 and indeed has a couple of (really crud) games such as pinball and the classic ... Read the complete review

What can be said about Windows NT Workstation? Stable, reliable, secure, fast on network access, remotely adminsterable, customisable but a bitch when it goes wrong! The Bluse Screen of Death is the ultimate nightmare with NT workstation and server. But, being truly the recoverable OS, reinstalling is a simple task. NT Workstation was ... Read the complete review

NT Workstation will provide you with a solid working environment with almost 95% backward (?) compatibility for your apps from Windows 95. I mention compatibility because you're likely moving from 95/98 to this new platform. It may well look the same but under the bonnet you've got a much better tuned engine. NT is designed ... Although Windows 2000 has been release for some time now, a lot of Windows NT users are not forseeing a migration in the near future. There are two main issue to be dealt with in such a migration, cost and compatibility. So, as far I see it, Windows NT 4.0 is going to be around for quite some time. And as long as that is the case, there is always ... Read the complete review

NT Certainally is the ultimate in operating systems (well, as far as windows goes anyway!), a 100% more times more stable than w95/98 and a hell of a lot better and smaller than w2000 this must remain the best version of windows, like the other guy said its not for games or home use though unless u have a degree in computer science to figure out ...
