Windows XP is the most commonly used version of Microsofts popular Windows operating system or OS. It is feature packed and has low requirements so it will run on most PCs. The Look Microsoft has really jazzed Windows XP up compared to the previous dull grey looks of Windows 2000. As soon as you boot into the Windows interface you will be greeted with a friendly blue Welcome screen with the colourful new Windows logo. To begin you simply click your username, which will be displayed along with a little picture of your choice, you can pick from a car, frog to a cute dog or add your own picture if you prefer. Once you have entered your password and clicked ... Read the complete review

Windows XP Home first released in 2001 is a big step up from previous versions of Windows, with a much brighter and easier to user interface and more features. XP comes with all the things you'll need to browse the internet, listen to music, watch videos and create basic documents. Internet Explorer is provided for browsing the internet, Wordpad is included allowing you to create basic documents, Windows Media Player is pre installed for listening to music and watching videos. XP Home Edition is the most popular OS so most software is compatible, the desktop looks quite smart but could be more user friendly, XP is a versatile OS but can ... Read the complete review

Windows has never been the most attractive of operating systems but Windows XP is different. Or so Microsoft will tell you. According to them, Windows XP is a MAJOR new upgrade, kind of like Windows 95 was a major upgrade from Windows 3.1. Why is it, then, that only around 15% of Windows users in Japan have upgraded? The figure is slightly higher elsewhere, but is there really any incentive to upgrade at all? After all, Microsoft hailed Windows ME as a major new upgrade to Windows 98 and those who used it found that it was merely Windows 98 all over again with the only improvement being the addition of a rather useless system restore facility! THE INTERFACE ... Read the complete review

Before I start this review I'm going to apologise for how long it is likely to be, but to properly review such a huge product as an operating system is going to take quite a lot more than a few paragraphs. To make it easier for you to find the information you personally will need, I'll organise everything under headings. ---My History with Windows--- The first version of Windows I ever used was Windows 3.1, a long, long time ago and I remember thinking how wonderful it looked and how much more you could do with it. This was in a time, when all the other computer systems I had used were text based, and any programs that you might use were kept on ... Read the complete review

I got my computer two years ago which came pre-installed with Windows 98. I was using Windows 98 all that time until two days ago when I finally after all this time updated my operating system to Windows XP. I ordered the full version from Amazon.com for $179.99- (U.S. dollars because I live in the United States)- on Saturday and UPS brought it to me four days later on Wednesday-(talk about great fast service). The reason why I had to get the full version instead of the upgrade version which costs less money is because I DON'T have an actual Windows 98 CD-ROM. Gateway didn't give me a Windows 98 CD-ROM, they just installed it for me on my computer. If I had ... Read the complete review
