Windows XP Home first released in 2001 is a big step up from previous versions of Windows, with a much brighter and easier to user interface and more features.

XP comes with all the things you'll need to browse the internet, listen to music, watch videos and create basic documents.

Internet Explorer is provided for browsing the internet, Wordpad is included allowing you to create basic documents, Windows Media Player is pre installed for listening to music and watching videos.

XP Home Edition is the most popular OS so most software is compatible, the desktop looks quite smart but could be more user friendly, XP is a versatile OS but can be daunting for new users its also to easy to corrupt vital components, which will often require an experienced user to repair.

Online safety needs to be improved, SP2 has improved things a little by adding the Windows firewall, but there's still a lot more that could to be done to tighten up security.

Overall easy to use, full of useful features and a relatively reliable OS.

Still the best operating system, Vista still has too many bugs, Mac and Linux suffer from lack of compatibility.
