Advantages: erm.......i dont think there are any

Disadvantages: slow, laborious, unsecure, expensive............

let me make this quite clear. microsoft is only popular for one reason, because it is installed on every computer bought, with the exception of the minority.

If it is not installed on the computer you have bought, dont buy it.

its first flaw, like all other microsoft OS systems is that its security is very poor. a good OS does NOT require constant virus scanning. if you want a good system there are many variants of linux out there to suit EVERYONES needs, get that instead. or even mac OS.

windows XP has no elegant simplicty to it what so ever, instead it barrages you with constant boxs requiring yes no answers. lets face it, i think microsoft are taking the pee slightly. to add to that its quite disobedient, and its help features are useless. there is more chance of getting blood from stone than managing to get XP to do what you want first time, and then when it does decide to do something its slow. unless you are NASA and build a rig capable of flying a space rocket to the moon and back you will be waiting forever for XP to do what you want.

On top of the fact that this system is actually unbielevably slow and asks more questions than your grandmother, its expensive too! Why pay when there are FREE operating systems out there ( linux being one! ).

to be quite honest, microsft is only popular because its a big organisation and has managed to get its operating system on every computer bought.

my question is: when you dropped out of schooling bill gates, what were you thinking?

Ps. i wont even start on the coding issues or we will be here all night. ( sp 2 will fix the problem......oh no, it wont. but it will kill your pc a bit more and corrupt quite a few files.)

if you do wish to get a new operating system, then may i recommend linspire. which can be google and got for FREE.

Summary: not worth the money, even if its free.
