I have used Novell Netware from version 4.1 and all have been great but also had their share of bugs and annoyances (admittedaly dealt with quickly by a quick update) but after installing 5.1 it is almost immediately clear that it is superior to them all - and that includes 5!
It introduces TCP connections to the servers whereas before it was IPX and there are less abends.
It does require a more powerful server to run but that is a trend that is seen throughout the whole computing industry.
It has ironed out all the downsides of 5 and introduced new features as well.
the price is still hefty but again no more than NT.
This is the only real solution for networking users over a wide area (no one else has yet made the equivalent of the tree concept - MS active directory seems a no goer) - so if that's what you need then this is what to get.
