Oral-B 1-2-3 Toothpaste
by springtide
A little while ago I was enticed away from my normal Colgate or Arm and Hammer toothpaste by a special offer from Oral-B, the first time that I have bought this brand. I think the promotion was for a 100ml tube for 99 pence, a good buy so I popped a tube into my basket on my weekly shop at Morrison's and then it went into our store ... cupboard until the current tube of toothpaste ran out.
The cardboard packaging, which unfortunately went in the bin, was a similar colour to the tube being predominantly blue and white with Oral B picked out clearly followed by 1 2 3 which stands for,1 anti-cavity, 2 whitening and 3 freshness as stated on the tube. This toothpaste contains fluoride(Sodium Fluoride 1450 ppm Fluoride) and comes in a fresh mint flavour and is presented in a blue and white tube. On the reverse are the ingredients and advice to use the full family of Oral B products, (of which there are many as I checked in Morrison's this morning), and also to visit your dentist regularly. The ingredients are listed on the reverse of the tube and also the advice that children under 6 should be supervised whilst brushing their teeth using a pea sized amount of the paste.to minimize swallowing. It also says in case of intake of fluoride from other sources consult a doctor or dentist. I have never been aware of this second warning on other tubes but maybe I am just unobservant.
Use and Opinion.
The white top is the traditional twist off top, easy to use and also to drop!. Inside is a pure white quite soft paste smelling minty fresh. The paste is quite soft and comes out a bit too fast so it is easy to get too much onto your brush. I use an old fashioned traditional toothbrush and give my pearly whites a good brush twice a day, about two minutes a time. I find that this is a very frothy toothpaste and you can look a bit like a mad dog while brushing but the flavour is quite nice if a bit unexciting. I have also found that if we are not careful this can leave white marks on you face. Good job we have a mirror in the hall just before the door! When the tube was about half full the bottom end of it split and so we had to be careful when using it not to squidge it out both ends.
Now we are at the end of the tube I have to say that I am not very impressed. I have not noticed any whitening effect but then I do drink a lot of tea and the odd glass of red wine so it is not really in with a chance. It has a nice fresh taste and does leave my teeth feeling clean and my breath fresh. I have not noticed any cavities developing whilst using this toothpaste. For the price it was a good buy but I would not pay full price for it.
4 out of 5 stars from me.
Thanks for reading my review, I also post on Ciao under splishsplash.
Made by Procter and Gamble it has a life of 12 months after opening and the tube is recyclable Read the complete review |

Oral-B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste
by Rhone210
The first thing I tend to see when shopping for dental care is price. At the end of the day toothpaste is a simple essential that need not be expensive.
BUT if you are like me and you decided to try something new, then I would 100% recommend this. Although, it almost pains me to say this because the price is higher than I ... would ever pay normally, I absolutely love it!
The packaging is not the important part - but it is nice to see a pretty box when you are paying this much for a toothpaste.
The fact that I tried this almost sarcastically to try and prove someone wrong should speak to the fact that I am a harsh reviewer. But almost instantly I noticed the difference! My teeth were noticeably whiter and so smooth.
Sometimes toothpastes give you a sufficient clean but don't give you that deep clean that you really want. However, with this toothpaste you get that deep clean without any burning or irritation.
Although I would not say I quite have the Hollywood smile of an A list star, but it has - much to my surprise - filled in some of the gaps in my teeth. Yet, I would say that this is not a miracle paste so you shouldn't expect that a chain smoker's teeth will turn sparkling white.
The brighter and lighter appearance is also something that I saw instantly and has continued to improve over time. The fresh smell and mild taste is just perfect for me and lasts surprisingly long!
As much as I am not a sucker for advertisements, I have to agree with Holly - if your teeth are flawless you feel like smiling. :-) Read the complete review |

Oral-B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste
by paulshorse
Having been unable to buy my regular toothpaste because it was on offer and the supermarket had failed to order enough to keep up with demand, I looked round for an alternative (I could have waited until my next shopping trip but I was in a 'let's try something different' mood). Scanning the rows upon rows of toothpaste and becoming ... more and more indecisive, I saw the blue, white and pink Oral B box.
Firstly, it looked different to the other boxes of toothpaste - modern and quite classy. I use an Oral B Triumph toothbrush, so putting two and two together I thought Oral B toothpaste + Oral B toothbrush = Sparkly clean teeth - just what I want. What really sold it, though, was the claim of whitening in 3D and the sparkly star thing on the letter D which surely proves that my smile would dazzle. I couldn't wait to get home to try it - and I wasn't to be disappointed.
The toothpaste is white with a kind of blue hue to it, with little blue bits scattered throughout (I assume that these are to help polish the teeth). It has a distinct minty odour but is not overpowering. I was pleased that it tasted of fresh mint (the manufacturers call this 'radiant mint') and not spearmint as I find the latter does not freshen my mouth.
The oral B brush has a small head and I wondered if I would need to use more than one squeeze of toothpaste, but I need not have worried - one glob is quite ample to brush your teeth for the required 2 minutes that Oral B insist upon. It foams well but not excessively and the toothpaste does stay on the teeth (my old toothpaste tended to dissipate after about 30 seconds - but that's for another review). As for the 3D cleaning, I assume that it means that the paste cleans between your teeth and not just on the front and rear -I cannot confirm or deny this.
I must admit that my teeth do look a little whiter after using this toothpaste for almost a month. It makes your teeth shine and it does leave them feeling smooth - almost like coming straight from the dentist after a polish. I wouldn't say that it leaves them brilliant white, but nothing will unless you have them professionally whitened. My mouth feels clean and fresher after using the product but I always supplement this by zapping my mouth with mouthwash to get rid of all of the nasty things. I am not sure, however, if using this toothpaste alone would be sufficient for complete oral hygiene, and I will continue to supplement it with my regular products.
I am favourably impressed with this toothpaste. It's a little more expensive than my regular brand, but at the moment it's on offer at Boots for 2 for £5, so probably a good time to stock up (and get the Boots points). Read the complete review |
