Advantages: Good cleaning power, whitener that works, good price

Disadvantages: There are none!

A few years ago I damaged the enamel on one of my front teeth and since then it would stain due to all the tea-drinking I did. The only time it would be back to teeth-coloured, was when the dentist scaled and polished but between those visits the stain would reappear. As you can imagine this reduced the amount of smiling I did and put a bit of a dint in the old confidence.

None of the toothpastes I tried made any difference until my father said I should try the so-called "Smoker's toothpaste."

Arm & Hammer has often been seen as the Smoker's toothpaste due to apparently being good at removing stains caused by smoking. So I thought, why not and gave it a try.

[Appearance]
Comes in a cardboard box and the product itself is in the usual toothpaste tube shape with a small screw on cap that can skitter around the sink as it slips from your hands. The well-known Arm & Hammer logo and name printed across.

Unlike other toothpastes this one does not over do the bright colours and look-at-me packaging.

[Flavour]
It is mint but I found it to be less overpowering than most other brands of toothpaste. As I suffer from sensitive teeth, I have sometimes found that other toothpastes can make my teeth hurt as if the minty-ness is really intense.

This has a more subtle, not unpleasant taste. Despite the tag being the "baking soda toothpaste" I can happily confirm you can't actually taste the baking soda.

[Cleaning power]
Honestly I wasn't expecting anything impressive, after almost a year of nothing working I assumed this would be the same. WRONG! Within a week just ONE WEEK the stain was visibly faded and by the end of the first month it was gone.

I still use this toothpaste and the staining never returns and when I visit the dentist any scale and polish takes a lot less time so there is definitely something working well with this.

People have mentioned the difference re the whiteness of my teeth and while you don't get that crazy blinding whiteness (who actually wants to look like they've used Daz to whiten their teeth!?) there is a definite different regarding the brightness.

[Price & Availability]
I have seen this in different supermarkets so availability isn't that bad, though only recently have I seen other versions of Arm & Hammer (eg: Enamel Care that I will be testing shortly!)

The price is around £1.24 at Tesco and I am happy with that, especially with how well it works.

[Summary]
Overall this is an excellent toothpaste, whether you are a smoker or not, they turn your pearly-whites pearly-white!

Summary: An excellent product
