      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Great taste, Fresh breath,

I usually use listerine, but on my weekly shop i decided that i have to cut down on spending. I had a look around the mouth wash part of asda and found many varietys of mouth wash. But Asda's own mouth wash was on special offer at only £1.00. So i thought lets give it a try.

That evening i tried the mouth wash, it directs you to rinse your mouth with half a cupfull of undiluited mouthwash. It was very minty indeed. It tasty great and my mouth felf fresh and clean.

As a smoker i find that you have to use mouthwash as a freshner and to help with stains that nicotin can leave on you teeth. I could taste the freshness right away and after having my last cigerette of the night, my mouth still felt fresh and clean. I must admit that i have never had that feeling of cleanleness and freshness when using listerine.

      Asda mouthwash clames to
      1.protect against cavities
2.protect against plaque and tartar formation to help keep teeth naturarly white
      3.strengthen and remineralise tooth enamel
4.leave your mouth feeling fresh and clean

I can certainly vouch for point 4. the others i will have to wait and see when i next visit the dentist. I will continue to use this product as it tastes great and at only £1.00 you are saving money too.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A quality product with nice durable packaging

I must admit i havn't always used Mouthwash however now ive started using it I dont feel clean and fresh (especially in the morning) if I dont!

I have tried many different types - all varying in price. As I shop regularly at Asda, and am now trying to cut down on the weekly/monthly shopping bill I have switched over to Asda Essentials brand in Mint Fresh. Its a total care flouride protection.

The claims on the packaging are that the mouthwash has 12 hour benefit and will:
      -Protect against cavities
      -Protect against plaque
      -Strengthen and remineralise tooth enamel
      -Freshen breath
-Leave mouth feeling fresh and clean

You can certainly tell that the mouthwash is doing the job in regards to leaving mouth fresh and clean and freshening breath.

As this product is so cheap in comparrison to other brands, 99p for 500ml in a storng clear plastic bottle, it is suitable for use throughout the day as and when required.

Not suitable for use by children under 6 years.

Also asda as far as I am aware are against animal testing and fund alternative research.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A great mouthwash at a very good price

The brand switching is still going on in our household as we attempt to save some pennies during our weekly shop. Mouthwash is an essential item in my trolley during my trips to Asda and in the past I have always bough Listerine. However I decided to give Asda Essential Care, Total Care Advanced Mouthwash a try. And I certainly won't be switching back to Listerine anytime soon.

      ***Packaging***

The mouthwash comes in a 500ml clear plastic bottle, which shows the bright green liquid inside. Perfect for showing how much mouthwash you have left.

The lid is a white plastic cap which also doubles up as a cap to swig the mouthwash from. The cap is "childproof" but is not as difficult to remove as the Listerine caps are which are a little too secure in my opinion.

The claims on the packaging are that the mouthwash has 12 hour benefit and will:
      -Protect against cavities
      -Protect against plaque
      -Strengthen and remineralise tooth enamel
      -Freshen breath
-Leave mouth feeling fresh and clean

It is not recommended for use by children under 6 years old.

      ***Price***

A 500ml bottle of Asda Total Care Advanced Mouthwash costs 99p in Asda for a 500ml bottle. You will only find this on the shelves in Asda as it is an Asda product.

This is extremely good value for money as I previously used to pay £3.18 for a 500ml bottle of mouthwash from Listerine.

      ***The Mouthwash***

The mouthwash is a bright green colour. When you open the bottle it has a nice fresh minty scent very much like spearmint.

The directions for use are to rinse your mouth with half a capful of undiluted mouthwash morning and evening or as required through the day to freshen your mouth and breath.

As soon as you put this in your mouth you are hit with a strong minty taste. This is a spearmint taste which is strong but not half as strong in taste as the Listerine mouthwash I previously used. This product from Asda does contain alcohol but it is not a mouthwash which has an overly strong alcohol taste which overpowers the mint. Unlike the Listerine products this mouthwash from Asda does not have that stinging sensation you get from mouthwash which contains alcohol.

After swilling in my mouth for 30 seconds and spitting out there is still quite a strong minty taste in your mouth and your mouth feels very clean and fresh without any stinging. Breath remains very fresh and I can often taste the minty taste for up to an hour after use.
Most importantly after using my teeth feel very clean and shiny when I run my tongue over my teeth. There is no gritty build up left on my teeth and after using this mouthwash for a week my teeth felt a lot cleaner than previously.

      ***Overall***

This is a fantastic mouthwash which has become a regular feature in my bathroom. The mouthwash tastes fresh and leaves breath smelling fresh. Most importantly teeth feel clean and plaque free. For 99p for a bottle it is an absolute bargain . In my opinion performance wise this product is just as good as Listerine, but a better product as it is a third of the cost! Certainly a 5 star product.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        See review.

After never having any problem with my teeth, I have suddenly discovered the joy that is wisdom teeth, and the fact that have all come through at the same time and now have to be removed! Oh joy!

There is one particular tooth that is causing me problems, that being the one that has only just broken through the gum, but still has a flap of gum covering one side of it.
This being the case there is very often an accumulation of food that gathers below the flap, yes this is truly revolting and can smell too!

I have worked out that giving it a good pick and brush definitely helps, but I have found I need a strong mouthwash to make me feel confident that I am removing as much bacteria as possible, the bacteria build up being a concern too, I have avoided an infection so far, but it is just a matter of time.

I decided that I would try Asda's own branded mouthwash for the simple reason that it is considerably cheaper than many of the other better known brands on the market, and due to the amount I get through it wouldn't be cost effective to buy dearer....and yes, I get through two bottles a week!

The product I will now review is - "Asda mint fresh, total care mouthwash"

There are two different "flavours" to be had in this range, one is green (the one I am reviewing) and the other is blue (alcohol free and not nearly strong enough for my liking).

The bottle itself is clear with the grass green coloured mouthwash visible within, there is the briefest amount of information this simply being that this contains fluoride and helps prevent cavities and tooth decay.

The lid doubles as a cup, perfectly sized for a "swig" sized amount of mouthwash, though as I am the only one using this stuff I do tend to swig directly from the bottle!

Recommended use is half a capful in the morning, evening or as required. Best to be used after brushing to rid your mouth of any remaining residue and bacteria, or to simply freshen your mouth and breath between brushing.

This is not recommended for use by children hence the child resistant cap, you know the sort squeeze then twist, it's so child resistant that I struggled with it the first time I opened it!

The smell is very strong and smells very like germolene in liquid form, I know this may well not be very appealing to many but to me the stronger the better.

The taste again is very medicinal, but not as strong as you would expect. There is the definite minty taste to it, with a slight burning sensation on the tongue, but nothing that would make you gasp!

I find a 30 second swill around the mouth is sufficient to freshen and clean, though I have never plucked up the courage to gargle, it states that this should not be swallowed and knowing my luck I would gargle, swallow then end up having my stomach pumped!

This mouthwash is stated to freshen breath, protect against cavities and tooth decay and strengthen and remineralise tooth enamel.

Pricewise you are looking around the £1.00 mark, though as with a great many of Asda's own branded products they are on offer more often than not.
