This is a review of Boots Mouthwash from their essentials range. It was a bit of a bargain and I am always on the search for the perfect mouthwash, so have tried many in my time. I have come to the conclusion that it is just best to pick up whatever is on special offer at the time so your mouth or body doesn't get too used to one kind. Product description The mouthwash is from Boots' equivalent of a value range. I don't mind this as there are some items I am prepared to spend more money on but mouthwash doesn't fall in this category. The 500ml bottle is clear plastic and recyclable and the lid is plastic with a child tamper proof lid (squeeze and turn to open) and the cap also acts as a measuring tool for the contents. The liquid contents are bright aqua blue like the Caribbean sea. In use I take a cap full after brushing and swish around in my mouth before spitting it out. It tastes fresh and minty but doesn't hurt your mouth like some mouthwashes! I get a nice fresh breath feeling for a while and it's not a medicated smell. The claim Unlike other mouthwashes that have a lot of benefits listed, this one simply claims to fight bacteria on the label but I believe you get other benefits like the fresh breath and the extra rinse after brushing will shift any bit of food that are in your mouth. My thoughts I like this mouthwash and it is quite mild. I think it is great value for money and does the job I want it to. A bottle of this will last me at least a couple of months. I do sometimes struggle with opening the lid but that is more to do with coordination skills than it being a real problem. People with joint issues may struggle though. The label advises this product is not suitable for children under six. I always keep this well away from my daughter as she is in that copying stage and loves brushing her teeth and although I am confident she would not be able to get the lid off it's better safe than sorry. I think bright coloured liquids have extra appeal to children too but at least adults know not to swallow it! Price and availability I bought my bottle of mouthwash a couple of months ago from Boots and I distinctly remember the price being 49p. I have looked on the website but can't find it listed despite there being other products from the essentials range on there. At the time I had a voucher from the Advantage Card machine for money off the Boots Smile brand and was going to use that on their mouthwash but saw I would be spending less with this at full price with no vouchers so used the coupon on some toothpaste instead. Final word I think I can safely recommend this product to other mouthwash users on a budget. For the price paid it does the job but comes with no frills or promises on things like sensitive teeth. I will definitely look out for this next time I am in store but won't be surprised if the price has gone up. I don't feel the need to spend a fortune on mouthwash as ultimately, it gets poured down the drain but I can say that I found this easy to use and was not unpleasant in the taste or after breath.
I try to use mouthwash everyday as I like to think it helps to keep my teeth and gums in a good shape. I opted to buy this one from Boots recently as it is part of there 3 for 2 on selected dental products so I had this as my free product. --- The Bottle --- The bottle is 22cm x 8cm x 5cm in size and clear throughout. On the top there is a white opaque screw cap lid that is child proof as you have to squeeze the sides to open it. On the front there is a plain blue label that has the name of the product in white and the boots logo on it. There rear also has a large blue label that contains all of the product information. --- The Mouthwash --- Each bottle contains 500ml of a blue coloured coolmint mouthwash. The mouthwash has a minty scent to it which is quite strong and sometimes makes me sneeze. As well as the mint scent there is also another scent that I can only associate with dental products. When you taste the mouthwash, it tastes just as it smells, nice and minty. This is good as this is part of the reason I buy mouthwash. I find that after a good swill and gargle, the mouthwash helps to leave my breathe feeling and smelling fresher for longer. I find that if I use just toothpaste then my breathe doesn't stay too fresh for long, but with this it stays fresher for longer. The bottle states that the mouthwash also helps to fight bacteria. I'm not sure how true this statement is, however I have not had any bacterial, gum or tooth problems since using it so I can only assume it does work to an extent. I use about half to three quarters of a cap full per use, once in the morning and once in the evening and I find that this is good enough to keep me going throughout the day. Even with using it twice a day, I still find one bottle can last me quite a while which makes it good value for money. --- Where To Buy? --- As this is a Boots own brand product, it can only be bought at Boots shops, there are around 2400 of them so it shouldn't be too much of a problem finding one! It costs 81p for a 500ml bottle, which only comes in the Cool Mint flavour. --- The Verdict --- I am going to give this 5/5 as for the price and the quality of the product it is well worth the money. I have not had any complaints with it so far as it does a very good job in helping to look after my teeth and gums and keeping my breathe fresher for longer. It is well worth trying for such as good price. Thanks for reading. This review may also appear on my blog and on Ciao under the same username.
