I saw this while browsing around Amazon a few weeks back and obviously compared to professional whitening treatments or most DIY whitening kits it was quite cheap. I thought I would give it a shot and even if it didn't work or work well then I couldn't really complain. It's a 7 day kit and is to be used twice a day and then by they end of that your teeth could apparently be 4 shades lighter. During the course you do notice a little bit of difference, whether this is psychological because you are expecting them to become whiter or whether they actually are I don't know, but after a week after completing the 'course' my teeth are exactly the same. I also found that during the use of the kit my gums became quite sensitive and my lips were becoming dry, I wasn't sure if it was a coincidence but I have read other reviews which state similar side effects. So if you are looking for a short term fix then it is okay but just be careful as like I said previously it could do more damage than good.
I brought this product due to being curious of the results, I really would love white teeth and spend alot of money on oral hygine. The price of the product is very good. The instuctions seemed very easy to understand and step by step instructions laid out in an easy to understand way. The shield felt a bit strange in mouth for the first couple of times I used, the gel didnt take that bad and you could carry on doing other tasks while the gel was working. The results were I must say were better than expected, I could tell my teeth were getting brighter by the dayby the end of the first week you could defently tell the difference. So I would recommend it for a short fix. The thing I did find was that it made my teeth very sensitive for a few days after. Happy smiling to you!
That Hollywood smile on the front of the packaging and claims of making your teeth several shades whiter are what made me buy the product even though if I am being honest i never really expected to get great results. The product itself is reasonably priced compared to other tooth whitening systems on the market and relatively easy to use. Obviously resulta will vary from person to person but after a few weeks of using this product I saw no significant change in the colouring of my teeth and I had followed instructions religiously (and secretly prayed that after each process my teeth would be noticeably whiter!)
A fair price and ease of use just do not jsutify the purchase so for this product I'm affraid I would have to say that you get the results that you pay for. Ask yourself this; Why would a dentist charge you several hundred pounds to do a few hours work to give you whiter teeth? because they use methods that work. In my humble opinion I think that by the time you have purchased tens of this product to achieve your desired result (thats if you ever reach it) you would have been just as well to pay the dentist to achieve the fast results you will want to start with.
So, I got my teeth braces off three years ago, and ever since then have been fanatical about keeping my teeth nice and clean and white. I use whitening toothpaste, floss, and always use mouthwash. So my teeth are fairly white, but nothing special. Seeing as I'm an impoverished student and don't have a spare £500 hanging around to have my teeth professionally bleached, I decided to use an at home whitening kit. Now just so we all know, I've read reviews on these things, and wasn't expecting anything amazing, but I was expecting SOMETHING, and the result was a big fat nothing!
The product comes in a small white box, with a picture of dazzlingly white teeth on the front, and features descriptions of what is in the box and how it all works. There are also appropriate safety warnings, and a list of ingredients. In the box you get:
-A Tooth Shade Strip
-A flexible gel/plastic mouth tray
Before you begin the whitening process, you are supposed to check your teeth against the shade strip, so you can see what shade you are to begin with, so you can see how many shades lighter you go over the 1 week period. I ran into the first hurdle at this juncture, as my teeth didn't match any of the shades! There are 14 shades to choose from, ranging from a very murky yellow/brown to a kind of white but still yellow shade. My teeth were closest to the whitest one, but still quite a bit lighter; my teeth aren't even that white, so its not like it would match most other peoples' either. This quite annoyed me, as I felt I wouldn't properly be able to see the results; there would be nothing to compare it too.
Anyway, once you've done with the useless shade strip, you begin by putting a little whitening gel into the upper and lower sections of the mouth tray. I found it difficult to get the spread of the mixture even, and to not end up with gaps, as when you try to spread it with the nozzle it seems to just stick to the nozzle!
When you've got that done, you then have to apply the accelerator to the surfaces of your teeth. The accelerator is in a small bottle with a cloth top (I'm not sure how to properly describe it!), so the liquid is supposed to soak through when you press the top of the bottle to your teeth. I would have prefered to have been able to see the accelerator, as it wasn't really clear whether any was actually going onto my teeth, or if I was putting too much on. You have to be careful when applying the accelerator that you don't let your lips close, as it wipes off the accelerator; this means you end up gurning in the mirror, which just makes you look beautiful!
Then you slide the mouth tray into your mouth, over your teeth, and leave it for 5-10 minutes. I found the mouth tray quite painful on my top gums, it kept rubbing and was really uncomfortable. Also, you have to keep your mouth closed, and it's hard to swallow, so I kept dribbling! Yuk! For these reasons it was quite hard to keep the thing on for 10 minutes, twice a day, for a whole week. But I persevered, hoping to be rewarded for my troubles with a set of beautiful pearly whites. I was not...
At the end of the week, my teeth maybe felt slightly cleaner, but then I was brushing them an extra twice a day, so that's bound to happen! In shade, I couldn't see even a slight difference, there was absolutely no change, so my teeth still don't match the stupid shade strip. This product costs around £5 from Superdrug, so although it's not going to bankrupt me, I still feel a bit cheated, as it really hasn't worked at all, not even a little bit. It's one of the cheapest tooth whitening kits around, and I doubt any of the others work any better, so at least I didn't waste any more money. The actual tooth whitening stuff didn't sting, but the mouth guard thing hurt, so it didn't just do nothing, it actually hurt me! I paid £5 to be poked uncomfortably in the gums!
I might suggest buying this product to someone who told me they were thinking of burning a £5 note, but were open to other suggestions of ways to completely waste it, but otherwise, please don't waste your money!
When it comes to my teeth looking and feeling clean its something that I am really willing to spend out on. However with my tooth enamel wearing badly I am really conscious of what I use on my teeth, however I purchased this product before being told by the dentist about the enamel problem that I have (though I hadn't used it prior) and decided to give it a go anyway!
The product comes in a white square box and on the front of that box there is a photograph of a white toothy smile and I am told that it is Brilliant, 'For A Smile To Dazzle' and thats its a 1 week tooth whitening kit which is 'Quick and easy to use, prevents stains re-occurring and controls tarter and is clinically proven' and that it is for smile maintenance and is a gentle action formula and there is a picture of the contents within the box too. Other information stated on the box includes being told a bit about the product and what to expect from it, directions for use are stated, contents are listed, as are the ingredients, cautions are stated and contact details for the manufacturer are given (Lornamead). Inside the box there is a large pamphlet and on that again (and in different languages) I am told pretty much told the same information as what is on the box and then inside the box you get the products you need to use in a white plastic tray stored neatly.
A Bit About The Product According To The Information Given:
Brilliant's gentle action tooth whitening kit uses the latest in home tooth whitening innovation which, with regular use can give you a super sparkling smile up to 4 shades lighter in just 1 week.
The gentle formula is free from peroxide and will give you a brighter, whiter smile safely and with the minimum of effort.
Using The Kit:
Well what you get is three small tubes of product and a plastic almost see-through small gum shield. You get a 6ml white plastic tube with like a spongy head to the top of it. As the first step of the process you simply wipe this over your front teeth making sure your lips or anything don't touch it. It has a slight salty taste to it but nothing major and then you get step two out of the box which is a 13ml white easy to squeeze plastic tube of whitening gel and gently put a thin layer into the gum shield. You then leave this in your mouth for between 5-10 minutes (and do this twice a day for best results).
The tray in the mouth feels a bit cold due to the transparent gel but although I have sensitive teeth it doesn't put them on edge too much. I clean the tray out of excess gel before putting it back in the kit and then I gently brush my teeth with the minty fresh light turquoise coloured whitening toothpaste that feels gently exfoliating to finish off which again comes in a white 14ml tube.
All in all I find the whole process takes a few minutes and isn't hard work to to do. When I have done it my teeth feel cleaner and smoother.
I have used this kit as recommended and thats twice a day for a week. I had enough of the products to do so and didn't find it a fussy regime to follow at all or messy.
However although my teeth in general do feel smoother in the long run since using this I haven't felt that my teeth are any whiter at all for using it. I expected to see my teeth go at least a shade whiter in a week but haven't sadly so all in all this is a pretty pointless product really although I have noticed less plaque and tarter build up on teeth!
This kit is available in all good chemists etc and I bought mine in Superdrug for £5.50 (it is also available on Amazon).
