Colgate 2in1 Toothpaste & Mouthwash
Advantages: Cleans well, minty, foams well, great bottle design
Disadvantages: The whitening brand doesn't 'whiten'
I cannot stand the mess that tubes of toothpaste make, the lid being left off, the excess toothpaste going crusty preventing the lid going back on and so when I moved into my own house I vowed I would never buy a tube ever again and so far I haven't. As dental care is important to me I wanted a good brand but I also wanted it to be a decent price because as we all know some things can just be extremely overpriced so I was more than happy when I found that my local Poundland was selling these small chunky bottles of Colgate for as you can guess £1.
There are 4 options available, Whitening, Icy Blast, Fresh Mint and Colgate Total. I so far have only tried Whitening and Icy Blast but I have been more than happy with these 2 brands. I will expand on each one separately.
Firstly the packaging for both the brands are very similar. The bottle is small and chunky which is easy to hold and stands upright avoiding those horrid toothpaste smears all over the place. There is a flip top lid that easily snaps open and back into place after use. I have also never had a problem with the toothpaste crusting over either which is an excellent feature I feel. Both bottles are transparent with Colgate written in a red sash diagonally across the middle and the name of the particular type written diagonally underneath the red banner.
The whitening brand shows a clear thick white paste, on opening the flip top lid there is a strong smell of mint which is not overpowering. It flows easily from the bottle onto the toothbrush but not so much that it is thin although it is a little thinner than the thicker style that comes in the tubes. While brushing my teeth I found that it foamed up very easily and I feel my teeth are exceptionally clean with a nice minty freshness. I find that this seems much more than a regular toothpaste, my teeth feel cleaner, smoother although I can't say they actually look any whiter. Mind you that wasn't really the purpose of buying the toothpaste. Overall this particular toothpaste has served me well and my teeth feel very clean and well looked after however if you are looking for something that whitens I wouldn't say that this would be your ideal brand.
The Icy Blast version is a cleat blue colour with 'glittery' bits in. I'm not sure what these actually are but they are VERY minty and are probably where the 'icy blast' part comes in. I find that it is of the same texture as the Whitening brand and has the exact same benefits in regards to the lid closing and opening easily. It foams up just as well and the only real difference I can see between the two is one is mintier than the other. Especially as the whitening one doesn't exactly whiten.
Overall I am very happy with the style of bottle, the benefits of the toothpaste and the job that it does. I am also very happy with the price and the taste and will continue this brand especially as it's so long lasting as in the bottle, it is not something that is over and done with in just a few uses. I would definitely recommend this toothpaste to anyone out there.
Summary: An excellent toothpaste giving the same effect as 2 products in 1!
