Before i start my review- i would say to anyone buying this product to be realistic about the results you think/hope to achieve colgate strips. I am reviewing this product in relation to it's competitors in the home based whitening strips field.
Of course- you are not going to achieve the same level of results as you would from laser teeth whitening or bleaching trays from your dentist which probably will cost you about 10X more.
But this product does still claim to whiten your teeth yet i did not experience great results- very little whitening from my teeth was noticeable. Home strips are not the easiest of things to apply- they can be very slippery and hard to stick onto your teeth.
The positive side about these strips is they taste and smell really nice- a spearmint flavour. i suppose if you didn't have access to a toothbrush/toothpaste or mouthwash they could be something to use on the go or at festival as a replacement/emergency!
So if you want to whiten your teeth to a serious level- i would advise getting a more senior form of whitening. However, if you can't afford that- i would recommend Cress whitening strips- they are around the same price- but i noticed that in terms of whitening i received much better results from Cress than i did from Colgate. And this surprises me because Colgate are such a massive brand! I would also say to use these in conjunction with a whitening tooth paste!
I'm not loyal to a particular brand of toothpaste so when I saw this one in a local B&M Bargains store for just 99p, I thought I'd give it a try.
- Packaging & What it looks like -
This comes in a box, within which is a tube with a flip top lid.
The toothpaste has a very slight, light green appearance when squeezed out of the tube. It has very small, square white 'bits' in it which I assume are the 'whitening strips' outlined on the box and the tube.
- What it promises -
~ Infused with whitening strips that dissolve as you brush.
~ Whitens teeth.
~ Freshens breath.
~ Helps fight cavities.
- My experience -
This has a slightly spearmint smell to it when first squeezed out on to your brush, reminding me of some chewing gums. It has a fresh minty flavour to it and froths up when brushing. It leaves my teeth feeling squeaky clean and with a fresh feel to my mouth.
As for whitening my teeth. I haven't seen any difference in the level of whiteness in my teeth since using this in comparison to what they look like when using toothpastes that don't promise whitening effects.
Overall, this is a pleasant, refreshing toothpaste, reasonably priced, depending on where you buy it. Don't expect your teeth to end up with that shiny, dazzling whiteness that you see on adverts hence the 3 star rating based on it's failed promise of whitening effects!
