Colgate MaxWhite with White Micro Crystals
Advantages: Good price, tastes nice, makes my teeth sparkle.
I used to grab whatever toothpaste was on offer when I was shopping, and it was usually whatever was on offer for a pound. All that changed a few months ago after Colgate MaxWhite with White Micro Crystals was on offer in my local branch of Morrison's for a pound reduced from its usual £2.00. My family while not over large has a tendency to swell from four people to nine people depending who's got partners and friends stopping over and whether my son is on leave, so we can get through 1 or 2 tubes a week as no-one seems to bring there toothpaste with them.
The tube of toothpaste comes in a sealed cardboard box with the Colgate logo emblazoned on two sides. An ingredients list and directions for use on the third side, and a self promotional advert for what is in the box with an advert for the accompanying branded toothbrush on the fourth side. The toothpaste claims to be "infused with hundreds of white micro-crystals" and to "restore natural whiteness" "freshens breath" and "fights cavities". I thought this sounds good, I was a bit dubious about the micro crystals as I was worried they might be overly abrasive, but for a pound I was happy to give it a try.
Once the box was opened I was presented with a regular shaped 100ml tube of toothpaste, the tube is less flashy than the outer box and is made of soft squeezable plastic, the cap is a flip top and is very easy to open and the hole for the toothpaste to come out of is a good size to ensure smooth application of toothpaste to my brush. With the cap being flip top the lid can not get lost but can get a bit ganky if people are not neat in the application of the toothpaste.
All the packaging, including the tube is recyclable.
The toothpaste has a lovely mild minty aroma; it makes me think of Wrigley's cool mint gum that I used to chew constantly as a teenager. The toothpaste itself is clear with a slight silvery tinge to it and speckled through out the toothpaste are small white flecks (these must be the Micro-Crystals), the toothpaste catches the light really well in my bathroom and it looks a bit like I'm going to brush my teeth with glitter. While brushing the toothpaste has a lovely minty flavour, its nice and mild and does not sting or make me desperate to spit it out, the foam produced from the brushing is nice and soft and it feels like my teeth are getting a really good clean, I usually try and brush for 2 minutes and the staying power of the toothpaste is really good, no need to reapply half way through. After brushing my teeth they feel really smooth and look sparkly, my tongue feels nice and clean and my breath is refreshed. I think the staying power of the minty just brushed aroma is a couple of hours but as soon as you have a drink it is gone but my teeth feel clean all day till its time to brush before bed.
The toothpaste states that children under the age of six should only use a pea sized amount and be supervised during use to minimize swallowing. I personally put a line of toothpaste on my brush from one end of the bristles to the other.
I personally thought this toothpaste was brilliant and when I questioned my family and various partners (children's partners, not my partners) they all liked it too. This is now a product I stock up on when it is on offer, I actually got a lady who was stocking shelves in Morrisons to look for it in the stock room for me when it had ran out on the shelf and was most disappointed to have to buy another type of Colgate toothpaste that week. In short I will be buying this toothpaste for as long as it is available as it is the first toothpaste I have every enjoyed using enough to feel loyal too. I like the results it gives me across my families teeth and when it is on offer it is really good value.
Colgate MaxWhite is available from all good supermarkets and pharmacies and I have also purchased it from Wilkinsons and Poundland The price ranges from £1.00 to £2.00 and also comes in pump form. The toothpaste is regularly on offer in different shops.
Thank you for reading.
Summary: A refreshing minty moment before bed and in the morning.
