Colgate Plax Soft Mint Green Mouthwash
Advantages: Good initial flavour, can be bought cheaply if you shop around.
Disadvantages: Freshness doesn't last, overpriced in most shops.
Price and Availability
I'm very conscious about keeping my teeth and gums clean and healthy, especially after having a brace a few years ago. As a result of this we tend to get through quite a few different toothpastes and mouth washes in our house, even though there's only the two of us. As with most people at the moment, money is a bit tight so we tend to buy products which are on offer or available in places like B&M and Home Bargains which enables us to still buy decent brands whilst not spending too much. Colgate Plax Soft Mint Mouthwash is available in most supermarkets, Boots and the shops mentioned above. It price varies greatly and Colgate Plax can be quite expensive. Boots sell it for £3.29 and Asda have it on offer at the moment for two bottles for £4, I bought mine from Home and Bargains for £1.25 which is a much better price and it's one of the products that is often available.
Packaging and Product Information
Colgate Plax comes in a 500ml clear plastic bottle with a screw top lid that also doubles up as a little cup for the mouthwash. The bottle houses the well known Colgate logo as well as a few other little bits of information in white text. The clear bottle makes it handy for seeing how much mouthwash you have left, although this is pretty much a standard feature amongst most types of mouthwash.
Colgate Plax is said to be a Multi- Protection mouthwash and claims to:
.Effectively kills 99.9% of germs.
.Give you healthier gums.
.Delivers noticeably fresh breath.
.Protects against plaque and bacteria for up to 12 hours.
I use my mouthwash after brushing, as well as for a quick burst of freshness sometimes throughout the day. There's a little fill line in the cap of the bottle to show you how much mouthwash to use and it's recommended on the bottle that you swill your mouth for 30 seconds with Plax.
After swilling and gargling with Colgate Plax for 30 seconds, my mouth is left feeling minty and fresh. Soft Mint is a very good way to describe the mouthwash as the taste is so muted. With a lot of mouth washes they almost sting because they're so strong but Plax Soft Mint is completely the opposite. I prefer the flavour like this as I don't really like the burn; however it's the longevity of the freshness that's the problem. After about ten minutes the fresh mint taste has almost completely gone from my mouth which is really disappointing.
Oveall, Colgate Plax Soft Mint for me was quite disappointing. The taste initially is good; it's gentler than other mouthwashes. The freshness just doesn't last though and this is what really lets this product down. The price does vary greatly and even when on offer or bought cheap it's still not worth it, never mind at the more expensive prices. One to avoid.
Summary: 2/5 a nice flavour but it fades fast.
