~A soft and minty mouth wash from Colgate~
Having been lucky enough to have been able to purchase a couple of the Colgate Plax mouth washes in each variety at a very reduced price some time ago I have now used all of the available flavours including the Soft Mint Green Mouth Wash which I have enjoyed using. Comparing it to other similar mouth washes I have used is easy too, as this is very similar to other types I have tried in its taste and feel making it very familiar. I rather like this mouth wash as it does give a nice fresh soft minty feel when you have used it, which doesn't seem to sting the mouth or leave any form of after burn (which you can sometimes get from other stronger mouth wash products).
The mouthwash comes neatly packed in to a highly usable clear plastic 500ml bottle that is easy to handle and just as easy to store when not in use. The lid of the mouth wash bottle can be used as something in which to pour a little of the mouth wash when you want to gargle with it if wanted, although I prefer to use a separate receptacle for that purpose as I never feel it is very hygienic to use the lid that way and then place it back on to the product bottle. Product presentation is fairly good and the soft green colour of the mouth wash reflects the flavour of it, which I feel is nicely soft and minty once you have gargled with it for 10 to 20 seconds or so.
~Using the product~
I feel that this mouth wash is able to give me a nice, fresh, just cleaned my teeth kind of effect for around 30 minutes or so after use. If I want to have some kind of drink after having used this mouth wash I tend to leave it for at least that long, as you still taste the mintyness even when drinking if you have a drink too soon after having used it. This is not a whitening product but it does work well when used in conjunction with some of the whitening toothpastes that you can buy, which is how I have most often used it. I feel that you certainly do feel the breath freshening effects of this product for at least 30 minutes or so after use and I like the way it leaves me with a nice clean fresh feel when I have used it. The fact that there is no burning or stinging of the mouth when using this mouth wash may mean it is something that will appeal to a wider group of buyers too and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes a softer feeling mouth wash product.
~Rating and price~
Over all I feel that the mouth wash is really quite good for a more gentle feeling way to use this type of product. I also feel that the price you pay for the product when on offer, which can be from anything around £1.00 upwards towards £1.75 is fair when I compare it to other similar products I have used. I have never had any problems when using this mouth wash and whilst it is not my all time favorite product I do feel it is worth trying if you like a softer yet still fresh minty feeling mouth wash. I don't feel that you can rely on this fully as a sole way to keep your teeth clean but it does work well enough when used alongside a toothpaste product. My rating for this mouthwash is 3 stars.
