A must for ice cream eaters with sensitive teeth

Like a large proportion of society my teeth are sensitive, this is a real pain it really is. The best foods in life are hot or cold so having this problem means I cant have hot chocolate or ice cream yep life is nothing without them delicious treats.
My dentist adviced me to use a sensitive tooth paste and I had seen all the adverts but still was not convinced, now that I have tried it I now wont use anything else, the product is not the big cure as some hot products like soup would still give me grief, while using it I simply forgot I had sensitive teeth this is not because Im simple but I had just got into the habit of avoiding certain foods, over time I was back on the ice cream and hot chocolate, ye colgate sensitive can be bad for your weight. The time that I noticed how well this toothpaste was working is when my teeth started getting sensitive again approximately three days after I started using a different tooth paste, the pain was unbelievable really thought it was toothache nearly resulting in an emergency dentist visit, thankfully I was back on the colgate sensitive and back to happy days of ice cream.

Multi protection formula gives protection from plaque, tartar, and gum problems whist also fighting cavities, removing stains and freshening the breath, making the tooth paste a good all round product at a good price.

So how do teeth become sensitive, our teeth are protected by enamel, after years this enamel can become weak and worn giving microscopic pathways to the tooth nerve, not all of the tooth is protected with enamel this is the part of the tooth normally covered by the gums, this is were the main cause of sensitive teeth lies with the receding gums leaving the teeth unprotected.

The minty fresh flavour is really nice not too strong giving clean non sensitive teeth and a fresh feeling mouth.

toothpaste with sensitivity minimising formula by Colgate

I have always suffered from sensitive teeth, I don't have it really bad but I do get it and up until now I hadn't been using a sensitive toothpaste. This is why I thought now was the time to get one that would be right for my teeth which is why I went for this Colgate sensitive toothpaste. Colgate are the toothpaste brand that I prefer the most and I have been using their products for years and they have never failed me yet and so I had every confidence that this specific toothpaste would live up to their standards.

      PACKAGING

The tube that this comes in is a standard 50ml tube and it comes in a box which is red and gold with the Colgate logo on the side of it. It states on the box what exactly it aims to do and how it helps and the name is very clear to see. It looks quite fun, the box design and it stands out on the shelf compared to the others. It is in a squeezy tube like most other toothpastes and it lists all of the ingredients on the box too, so that you know what it is that you're using.

      SENSITIVE MULTI PROTECTION

So, to start with I wanted to know how exactly this toothpaste would help my teeth. The formula for this toothpaste is designed to soothe teeth and gums and make brushing a lot more gentle on them. It is made with an antibacterial agent which helps to fight problems and it protects against cavities, plaque, tartar and gum problems. The toothpaste also promises to remove stains and keep breath smelling fresh throughout the day.

The paste itself is white and it can be used by all age groups, although if 6 years old or younger then you can only use a small amount. The toothpaste is very minty smelling like most really and when using this, I put on a big enough amount to cover my brush head, I use a manual brush. I begin to start brushing my teeth and ensuring I reach all corners, now at first I can't say that I really noticed much of a difference when using this as I am not going to lie and say it has performed miracles.

Although, I have now been using this toothpaste for quite a good while now and have noticed that my teeth are not hurting anywhere near as much as it used to. At first, I thought I was imagining it but it really has calmed down my sensitivity as before it had started to get quite sore. I have found since using this my teeth always feel smooth and very clean and it always leaves a nice minty freshness behind which makes me feel clean.

It is definitely a very effective formula, and now that I have found it and that it is actually working wonders, I will have to buy it again. Colgate are a reliable brand and in terms of brushing my teeth, I can always buy their products knowing that I will get the results that I want from them. I would say this would be good for anyone that has a problem with sensitive teeth. It cleans as well as it helps sensitivity, really, what more could you want?

      COST

This can be purchased from all supermarkets and places like Boots and Superdrug. I got my tube from Poundland where it cost me just £1.

Not much of a flavour but it does wonders for my teeth!

I sometimes suffer from bouts of tooth sensitivity and my dentist suggested that I use a toothpaste especially FOR sensitive teeth.

This toothpaste was only a pound from Tesco so I decided to give it a go. The toothpaste comes boxed and the size of the tube is 100ml. The toothpaste itself is an off white colour and I would describe the taste as pleasant yet subtle, there isn't much of a taste to the toothpaste. I would describe the taste as a regular "sensitive" toothpaste taste, although it doesn't taste minty to me.

The toothpaste foams up well inside my mouth and it cleans the teeth and gums well. It contains antibacterial ingredients that fight plaque and tartar and the toothpaste really does freshen your breath for a long while after using it. It leaves me feeling confident in the knowledge that my breath smells clean and fresh. The toothpaste has a mild and gentle formula that is mild and gentle on the gums. The special sensitive formula helps sensitive teeth regain some suppleness.

The toothpaste goes a long way as you only need a small pea sized amount each time that you use it. If I brush twice a day with this toothpaste I notice that it does help with my tooth sensitivity and I can even eat my beloved Ben 'n' Jerry's ice cream after using this!

A great toothpaste for sensitive teeth (and gums!)

        Disadvantages

        A good all round toothpaste

I am not one to stick to a particular toothpaste and will usually buy whatever is on offer at the time, I do like to go for the ones with sensitive teeth if possible. Recently I purchased Colgate Sensitive Multi Protection, this was not one I had tried before and I was a bit concerned as to whether I was going to like as I do find that some sensitive tooth pastes can have a bit of a weird taste to them and do not taste minty at all.

The Colgate Sensitive Multi Protection toothpaste came in the standard long cardboard tube that most toothpastes come in, I cannot give details as to what was on the box as I threw this out a while ago. However the actual toothpaste tube again is pretty standard, made from a plastic type material that is soft and easy to squeeze, it is slightly narrower towards one end, this is where the white plastic cap is situated, the top of the cap flips open to reveal a small hole for the toothpaste to be squeezed from, when first purchased this is covered with a small circle of foil which needs to be removed before using. On the front of the tube is a large red oblong shape with the word "Colgate" written inside in large white letters, just above this the tube states "Gentle formula, complete protection for sensitive teeth", this is written on the white part of the tube in blue lettering. The wider half of the tube has a large creamy coloured section with a picture of a tooth and the type of toothpaste that this particular one is, in this case "Sensitive Multi Protection" just below this is a list of things that the tooth paste fights. The back of the tube contains various pieces of information about the toothpaste including the ingredients and also a cross section of a tooth with a description of what makes a tooth sensitive and where the pain comes from.

Colgate Sensitive Multi protection Toothpaste promises to fight "Cavities, Plaque, Tartar, Gum Problems, Removes Stains and Freshens Breath", in my opinion all important factors when it comes to cleaning your teeth. The tube also states that the toothpaste will be gentle on sensitive teeth and gums whilst still protecting teeth on a daily basis. Personally I have never had any problems with my teeth and have never had to have any work done on them so to me it is important to keep it that way with a good toothpaste, however from time to time I do suffer from sensitive teeth, this is not a regular problem for me but one that comes and goes, different things can set it off varying from hot things, cold things or even very sweet foods so I do like to try and use a sensitive toothpaste where possible in case my teeth decide to have a sensitive period.

The toothpaste itself is plain white and of a thick consistency as with most toothpastes, it has quite a strong minty smell to it, I was just hoping that it was going to taste the same. I squeezed a small amount of the paste onto my toothbrush and began to brush my teeth, I was pleased to discover that it was extremely minty and did not taste weird like some other sensitive toothpastes. After I had finished my teeth felt extremely clean and my breath lovely and fresh, the minty taste and freshness lasted well and did not wear off quickly. Since using Colgate Sensitive Multi Protection toothpaste I have not had any problems with my teeth feeling sensitive, now I'm not too sure if this is due to the toothpaste or just because they have not had one of their sensitive periods, I like to think that the toothpaste is actually working and doing some good, I think the real test will come if I stop using the toothpaste. In my opinion the toothpaste has worked, it leaves my teeth feeling clean and my breath fresh and so far has prevented them from becoming sensitive.

When I purchased the Colgate Sensitive toothpaste it was on offer, I paid £1.00 for a 75ml tube, full price the tube costs £2.00, personally I think this is quite reasonable even at full price as some of the Colgate toothpastes are quite expensive. So far the toothpaste has proved to be long lasting, there is only 2 of us and we both use it at least twice a day sometimes more, we have had the tube a couple of weeks now and it still has about half of the toothpaste left.

The toothpaste does have a couple of warnings on the back of the tube which include
        * Use a pea sized amount for children 6 years and younger and supervise brushing to prevent swallowing
        * Should anyone swallow the toothpaste see the doctor or dentist, I assume this means if a large amount is swallowed.

Personally I would recommend Colgate Sensitive Multi Action, the toothpaste has a lovely minty taste to it not that weird taste some sensitive toothpastes have and the minty freshness lasts for a long while. So far it seems to have helped with my sensitive teeth which I suffer with from time to time so I imagine continuous use would help someone who permanently has sensitive teeth. The toothpaste is also quite good value and reasonably priced even when not on offer. This is one I would definitely consider in the future and use if there was nothing on offer.
