The Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste is available for GBP 1.99.
The toothpaste is described as follows. "Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste - the original mint flavour for complete non-stop 12 hour protection. Bacteria are the cause of most dental problems. Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste combines cavity fighting fluoride with an advanced antibacterial system to provide superior antibacterial protection and fight most common dental problems."
The ingredients are Aqua, Glycerin, Hydrated Silica, PVM/MA Copolymer, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Cellulose Gum, Aroma, Sodium Hydroxide, Carrageenan, Sodium Flouride, Triclosan, Sodium Saccharin, Limonene and CI 77891.
The toothpaste has a pleasant ansich viscous consistency and is held in a beautiful blue. It smells very fresh minty and tastes exactly the same. Something sharp but still so that you can endure it well, yet the feeling gives that the teeth are very clean. You need a normal amount for a toothpaste application, so I be of fertility no specifics could find. So far I have not found a toothpaste that makes teeth really white. Nevertheless, I absolutely feel that my teeth are thoroughly cleaned and refreshed. I used to always think that no-name brands of toothpaste are just as good as the name brand. By now I've gotten used to the Colgate products, so I also use it rather because they are really good. In the tolerability there was with us so far no problems. The teeth are, however, become significantly brighter in any of us. Actually, they are just as before.
My teeth are naturally rather white without the use of toothpastes, mouthwashes or teeth brightening sets. However, I'm a really big fan of tea and coffee (I'm talking a minimum of at least 3 500ml cups a day, otherwise headaches form), and this has the disadvantage of sometimes staining my teeth. Coffee is by far the worst offender even though I don't drink as much of it. I use Colgate Total Advanced Clean / Whitening for assurance I guess - it's embarrassing to smile when your teeth are a little yellow and you're self conscious.
I usually buy this from Bodycare as it's significantly cheaper here than it is anywhere else at around £1.49. It comes in a rectangular box with the paste inside a squeezy tube with a white stand up cap and a crimped end. I believe the name has changed from the product shown here, but the packaging is still quite similar. On two sides (inc. the assigned front) of the rectangular box it comes in, the logo is printed in a large font and you will see the name of the toothpaste. On the right hand side there is a list of all the things the toothpaste protects against:
- gum problems
- sensitive teeth
- bad breath.
On another side you will find the instructions of use (brush thoroughly twice a day or as directed by a dental professional; not suitable for children under 7 years old) and a list of the ingredients. It contains sodium fluoride at 1450ppm so it's the same as most other toothpastes. On the final side again is a reiterated list of what the toothpaste protects against and some illustrations showing the effects of using it.
I really like this toothpaste - it both smells and tastes minty and fresh, and doesn't leave a strange after taste like Macleans; it also does what it intends to do. I use this twice a day quite thoroughly and find that my teeth, although already white, are whiter and more pearly. I saw a real difference in the shade of my teeth after using it for two weeks on a regular basis. I do think that you can't solely rely on a toothpaste alone to take care of your teeth: as soon as I reduced my intake of tea or coffee my teeth got whiter quicker. If you're somebody who brushes their teeth before eating breakfast in the morning (which in my opinion is what you should do), you may find that some foods are unpalatable because of the strong minty taste it leaves in your mouth. This is a plus during the evening because it acts like a small deterrent to not eat or drink.
Love this brand it never lets you down. Although I was briefly swayed by the brands that promises whiter than white teeth, this delivers. I'm not turning back.
Check out the list of things it does:[why I walked away I'll never know]
PROTECT AGAINST GUM PROBLEMS
PREVENTS TARTAT BUILD UP
RESOTRES A NATURAL WHITENESS
STRENGTHENS WEAK ENAMEL
This product ticks all those boxes. After using the Beverly Hills formula, I switched back to this.
My main concern was the sensitivity that develop during the use of the Beverly Hills formula, I'm not 100% saying it created it but it certainly didn't help and I develop sensitivity throughout using that brand but with three days this stopped that complete and when I asked my dentists to have a better look, she couldn't find any issues.
My teeth I wouldn't say were whiter than white, like Ross on friends, which is where I want to be:) but this was very good at preventing stains and actually removed a few that the B.H Formula couldn't again within one week I noticed the difference. Unlike the previous brand I actually received comments on the whiteness of my teeth and they mentioned the B.H formula straight away until I explained the issues with that and mentioned the brand I went back to.
The results were almost immediate and I was so grateful!
Also, all this for a big fraction of the price of the B.H.Formula.
At the moment in Superdrug it £1.09, yes they need that 9p every little helps!:)
In my early review writing days I reviewed the toothpaste 'Ultrabrite' as it's what I had used forever, and I could NEVER see myself changing. However, a couple of years ago I suffered with sensitive teeth for a bit, and started using Sensodyne. I no longer use that currently, but having changed toothpaste I am no longer bothered by which one I use, so we tend to get whatever is on offer these days!
We seem to have been using this Colgate Total Advanced Clean toothpaste for quite a while now. It's in a 125ml tube, which is currently on offer at 2 for £4 in Tesco. I'm not sure if we paid that or less for it. A tube seems to last us quite a while, I think we use less toothpaste now we're using electric toothbrushes.
This toothpaste claims to provide complete protection for a healthy mouth - protecting against cavities, plaque, gum problems, sensitive teeth, tartar, enamel, staining and bad breath. Obviously it's not a miracle - you still need to see a dentist regularly - I just wish I could find one that I could get to and get an appointment at, but that's another story.
This toothpaste leaves my teeth feeling clean, and the minty taste lasts for quite a while after brushing which leaves me feeling fresh. It claims to give a 'dentist clean feeling that lasts' - I suppose this is a pretty fair claim, as it is a very nice toothpaste.
We will continue to use this, but I'm not brand loyal anymore, so will just buy whatever is on offer. But I have to give this 5 out of 5 really!
My choice of toothpaste brand is generally Colgate, as I favour their products over others, particularly as they offer a strong minty taste. Whilst my normal toothpaste is their Cavity Protection, which I can pick up in Poundland, I was fortunate to obtain two freebie 19 ml tubes of their Total Advanced with this review discussing my experience.
Whilst my plastic tube is smaller than the normal version containing 175 ml it is identical in appearance with the claim being that it will provide 12 hours of non stop protection against bacteria. I must admit to being fanatical about oral health care with my hard work paying off as at the age of 45 years I am pleased that I have only two fillings with my visits to the dentist consisting solely of a check up with the occasion scale and polish.
The fluoride toothpaste offers the same consistency as any other brand I've tried and is pure white in colour. The flip top lid enables an easy application with me holding my tooth brush in one hand and the paste in the other, as I dispense a pea sized blob onto my brush. Exactly as I anticipated, the taste is extremely minty and is therefore a pleasure to use. I'm not a fan of toothpastes that create an excessive amount of foam during the brushing process and Colgate Total did not disappoint, as it offered a sufficient amount.
As I was using a product from a longstanding and trusted brand I felt assured that it would offer me protection from tartar, cavities and plaque. Whilst Colgate claims that the toothpaste helps sensitive teeth, I cannot agree, as whilst I occasionally suffer from pain and discomfort, it is necessary for me to use a specifically designed product. After brushing, my mouth is left feeling clean and fresh with the minty taste lingering for a good while afterwards.
Colgate claim that Total will assist with staining and whilst this is not a real issue for me, I have a few small enamel stains; one of which is situated on a tooth that chipped some time ago. However, the toothpaste was not tough enough to shift the tiny area of discoloration. I would compare the product with my usual brand of Colgate Cavity Protection, as it offered identical results and whilst I can purchase a 125 ml tube from Poundland, Total Advanced tends to retail at around £2.38 for a 150 ml tube.
I cannot see me making a purchase due to it not living up to its claims and the price, particularly as I can achieve similar results with their Cavity Protection, which is much cheaper.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
Colgate is a really good brand of toothpastes on the market. The brand almost always deliver a nice paste and only on a couple of occasions have I found one of the range to be not quite as nice a paste. The price of the Colgate range is good for a branded product.
This paste is housed in a tube and has a flip back lid. It has a nice fresh minty smell and I can smell it as soon as I flip back the lid. The smell is a nice fresh smell. The paste is just a plain white colour. It has a smooth texture and one that is nice and soft. The paste I find is easy to squeeze from the tube onto my tooth brush. Just a pea size is enough to brush my teeth, no more than this amount is needed with this paste because this amount is enough to thoroughly clean the teeth.
This paste claims to help to fight any gum problems and to help fight plaque for 12 hours. I don't have a gum problem. It claims to also strengthen enamel and to remove tartar etc. I have quite clean teeth because I have them cleaned regular at the dentist and so I don't have much of a build up, so I cannot say whether it works or not for removing tartar etc. I haven't actually seen a difference in the colour of my teeth since using this one. It does claim to whiten the teeth more but I cannot see any difference in the colour of my teeth at all.
it does clean the teeth really well, it also doesn't burn the mouth while brushing the teeth. I have found it to be a nice mild one for my gums. It does give a good foam in the mouth while brushing. Also it is good to rinse from the mouth. I like the fresh feeling in my mouth after brushing with this paste. It freshens my breath too and I do know I have brushed my teeth when I have used this paste.
I recommend this paste to anyone looking for a nice one and a paste with a nice minty flavour. This mint is not too overly powerful in the mouth and is not a kind of paste that you want to rinse from the mouth as soon as you start brushing the teeth as I have often found with some other brands. I just think this paste has left my teeth and gums in a good condition and I am happy with the results. Some of my older grandchildren like this paste and it has been suitable for them too.
A nice paste that leaves the gums and teeth feeling clean, fresh and in a good condition and a 100ml tube will set you back just over £2. I do think this is a fair price for this paste because it is a good quality paste and good value for this price. I will be buying this one again because I really like it and the way it cleans my teeth really well.
I rate it 5 stars.
Over time as most of us I have tried many different toothpastes but this is the one we currently use in our house after switching a few months ago. I like Colgate products as the taste and the feel they provide after cleaning my teeth has made me trust the brand.
As all toothpastes it has a squeeze tube with a flip top lid and then this reveals and opening where the toothpaste comes out. Al you do is gently squeeze and the product comes out of the tube easily it does not rush out and as it is a paste constancy you can easily catch it on your toothbrush with no problems.
This toothpaste has a really grainy feel to it usually I do not like this but I believe this is what gives that extra clean finish and as it is not too noticeable once you begin brushing your teeth it is not over bearing and so I can get used to it.
The toothpaste is white in colour not too fancy just a plain toothpaste. The consistency is like most toothpaste rather thick but it does not give me a sticky feeling when I use it as it breaks up straight away as it begins to clean. I only need to apply a pea sized amount to my toothbrush and this is enough to brush al my teeth.
It has a fresh minty taste when you put it in your mouth you can smell and taste that straight away I hate over powering mint so I was glad that upon use this is just a mild taste rather than a full on shocker of a flavour. As you continue to brush the taste does become stronger but as it is very mild still not over bearing.
While brushing I can feel my teeth becoming cleaner straight away and you can tell the product is working there I no tingling feeling like you get with some toothpastes but if you rib your tongue against your teeth it is apparent they are a lot cleaner.
The aftertaste is nice and minty I like to have a nice clean fresh taste in my mouth for as long as possible after I brush and this one delivers or about an hour afterwards you can taste the freshness and although this obviously decreases after time it does last a lot longer than most other toothpastes I have tried. The after taste is not to over bearing but you get a nice clean feel just perfect.
It is not to be used for children under 6 years but I am sure once my children are older they will switch to using this toothpaste with my husband and I as the taste it not overpowering like a lot of them can be and so would suit their tastes and the transition from children's toothpastes to adults.
This toothpaste promises so much to keep that clean feel between visits to the dentist, it removes up to 98% of plaque build-up and providing 12 hours of anti-bacterial protection against plaque. Now to be honest I have no got a clue if all these things are true but what I do know is that it does provide a pro longed fresh feeling, my teeth do appear to be a little whiter after a few months of use and in general my teeth do feel a lot cleaner on a day to day basis so it's a winner for me.
You can buy a 75ml tube for £2 but always shop around as I find I can always pick it up a little cheaper on special offer and then I can stock up. I really like this toothpaste and think it is perfect for family's the taste is not over bearing yet you definitely get that clean feeling which lasts and as long as you get it while it is on special offer it is relatively cheap also.
I wouldn't really say we are brand loyal when it comes to Toothpaste but I guess we tend to go for Colgate more than other brands but I think that is more because it is on offer more in our local Asda or in Poundland too.
This comes in a 100ml tube and sells for around £2.20-£2.30 or usually 2 for £3 in Asda, so we tend to pick this one up and perhaps a Whitening one as well. We chop and change, but I do like this one as I do feel that this cleans deep down.
The tube and packaging is pretty normal for this - and just really looks like any other tube and box. Nothing all that special but it's all about what's inside the tube anyway.
When you open this tube you get the strong Minty scent from this. It does smell a little overpowering but I tend to find that once you have brushed your Teeth and rinsed then although you can still taste and smell the Minty scent it isn't that bad and just seems to provide a good amount of Freshness.
A little blob of this goes a long way. I know it is usually mentioned that you only need a Pea sized blob of Paste and I never measure this out that way, but I would agree with this.
This isn't Fancy in the world of toothpastes. This isn't a singing and Dancing Paste - it doesn't have Crystals or granuals in it, it doesn't promise Whitening - It just gives a good deep down clean of your Teeth and this does what it says. My teeth feel nice and clean and although it states that this provides 12 hour protection I have never counted to be honest.
A good Toothpaste which keeps my Teeth ok.
Sometimes its just nice to use a basic, normal toothpaste. Nowadays you can get toothpaste with crystals in it, breath strips, in gel form, or in foam form but sometimes I like just a regular old fashioned toothpaste. That's why this Colgate total advanced toothpaste is so great. Colgate dates back well over 200 years and as such they're had a long time to perfect their products. I think most people associate the name Colgate with toothpaste and I have always found them to be a very well respected company and one that produces really good products. You always know that when you buy Colgate toothpaste you are guaranteed a quality product that will treat your teeth well.
This toothpaste is in the original mint flavour and it says on the tube that it offers complete non-stop 12 hour protection. What I like about this paste is that it is jus that, a pure white paste with no gimmicks in in, just smooth, nice tasting mint toothpaste. The toothpaste comes in a tube with a flip top cap so when you squeeze it out you can get right to the end of the tube and can get all of the toothpaste out which is nice. The paste is fairly thick and clings onto your toothbrush when you add the amount you need. It's not too overpowering and minty, it's just right in my opinion. The taste of the mint is lovely and fresh and after using this toothpaste my mouth always feels nice and fresh and clean. In fact this is one of the things that Colgate actually say this toothpaste does well, giving you nice fresh breath.
Colgate say by using this toothpaste you are taking better care of your mouth. They have a new formula which has an advanced germ fighting system that adheres to your mouth to help fight plaque and gum problems non-stop for 12 hours. I probably can't comment on the 12 hours as I tend to brush my teeth three times a day, first thing in the morning, then after my lunch and in the evening before I go to bed so I never go longer than say 5 hours brushing my teeth but in that time I always feel like my teeth are nice and clean until I eat again.
Colgate total advanced will also help you with cavities, gum problems, plaque, tartar, sensitive teeth and will strengthen enamel. It also says that it will bring out the natural whiteness in your teeth. My teeth are not amazingly white but this toothpaste used in conjunction with my electric toothbrush I think has helped to brighten my teeth a little bit which is nice. All in all a nice toothpaste that I recommend.
I was introduced to this toothpaste many many years ago by my mother who recommended it highly as I'd always had to purchase a sensitive toothpaste and a whitening toothpaste seperately in the past but this product claimed to help with sensitivity and stain removal. The toothpaste comes in a sealed white cardboard box and the tube which has recently been changed now stands on it's cap and contains 100ml of the white toothpaste. I would firstly like to say: Thanks Colgate for using your brain and designing a toothpaste where it stands on it's cap therefore preventing me from rolling up the end of the toothpaste to get the final 1/5 of the paste out the tube or in extreme measures performing surgery with scissors to then scrape the inside - I hate waste. Anyway the toothpaste is quite thick and unlike the commercials you only require a 1cm (max) squeeze of the paste on your brush (enough for an electric oscillating toothbrush head) to clean your mouth sufficiently and without leaving you looking like you're about to explode with foam coming out of your nose, corners of your mouth and quite often down the front of your lovely black workshirt. The toothpaste has a lovely fresh mint flavour and isn't overly sweet which I prefer and leaves my mouth fresh and works really well when combined with the Colgate Plax that I reviewed as well.
Protection against the following:
Cavities: Since using this toothpaste I have not required any further fillings and my dentist is quite happy with the condition of my teeth - They aren't perfect by any means but they're not getting anyworse.
Gum Problems: I have always had sensitive gums and this toothpaste along with the alcohol free Colgate Plax mouthwash has really helped stop my gums receding and getting inflammed.
Plaque/Tartar: My hygienist is quite happy with my mouth and although she's had to give me a scale/polish once a year it's generally due to compacted teeth on one side not ineffective cleaning.
Staining: I have to admit that long ago I was a dirty smoker and had nasty stains between my incisors and canine teeth and thankfully with persistant use of this toothpaste the stains have noticeably lightened and cannot be seen by anyone other than me when I look really really close. Coffee/tea stains are no longer a problem either.
Bad Breath: Only a problem if I consume smelly foods. The toothpaste definently keeps my breath fresh till lunchtime.
Sensitive teeth: Now this was one thing that I was concerned about because it really made drinking hot/cold drinks painful but I can thankfully state that the toothpaste prevented the discomfort and the toothpaste does work straightaway and doesn't require a cummulative application.
Enamel Erosion: My teeth are fine according to both the dentist and the hygienist and they are quite happy since I changed from Eurythmol/Pearl Drops/Sensodyne toothpastes to this. The toothpastes whitening/stain removal hasn't damaged my enamel unlike Pearl Drops/Eurthymol and has really helped stengthen my teeth.
All in all I recommend this toothpaste highly and personally have no issue with paying the full price of £2.39 although it is frequently on offer in the supermarkets. I really cannot find anything to dislike about this toothpaste and wouldn't be swayed by any of the newer trendier toothpastes that are being advertised.
I don't find the choice of toothpastes to use as a particularly emotive or interesting topic. When the time comes to restock, I tend to avoid any own brand cheap and nasty stuff and then make a choice from whatever is on offer at the time. I'm a bit of a toothpaste tart.
Last time we bought toothpaste, I opted for this Colgate Total Advanced Clean which cost me £1.00 for a 75ml tube in Asda.
With the increasing use of electric or battery toothbrushes which only require a pea sized blob of toothpaste rather than 'I'll fill the brush' portion that manual users tend to squeeze out, the overall demand for toothpaste must have dropped. Hardly surprising then that toothpaste prices have been creeping upwards - they have to make their profit, I suppose.
Anyway, because we get fed up using the same old tube, we tend to buy the smaller sizes.
I chose Colgate because it's a recognised brand and I knew that it would be a half-decent product. There are so many brands and variants within brands each making a variety of credible, incredible or for all I know spurious claims that the poor old consumer has too much choice I think.
Colgate Total Advanced Clean promises that "Dentist Clean" feeling that lasts. I have to agree that it does seem to do the job but I don't feel it is giving me the 12 hour duration that is claimed - except of course until you read the small print and realise that it is up to 12 hours protection - which of course could be 12 minutes or 12 seconds.
I would judge this to be a perfectly satisfactory toothpaste but also feel that it is the manner in which you clean your teeth that is probably more important than the brand of toothpaste. Because I have lots of little gaps, I use the inter-dental brushes in addition to the normal toothbrush and for me it is this detailed brushing that carries a greater importance. Basically a bit of silica mixed in to anything a tad creamy would probably do some kind of a job.
This toothpaste is pretty boring really and has nothing that particularly differentiates it. No nice stripes, no blue gel - not even much of a fresh and minty smell - Just plain boring old white non foaming toothpaste.
In summary therefore, although this toothpaste professes to offer an advanced clean, it doesn't come at a premium price and therefore for advanced we should perhaps read ordinary. If it was really that good, they could command a premium price but they have other premium price variants on sale that make a further series of claims, any of which would be difficult to prove or disprove.
I'll give it 4 out of 5 based on quality, value and consumer trust in the brand.
What is the best toothpaste to use?? There are so many...whitening, ones that replace lost enamel, sensitive ones, plaque fighting toothpastes...it all gets so confusing which one will do the best job.
So on visiting my dentist (which I hate) I asked which was a really good brand and toothpaste to use. I was told to go out and buy Colgates Total Advanced Clean.
Since buying my first tube I have not used another toothpaste, only when they're sold out and I'm left feeling disappointed with the replacement.
Colgate's Total Advanced Clean claims to give that just out of the dentist feeling that lasts. It claims to help gum problems, fight cavities and plaque and has long lasting anti-bacterial protection.
In my experience in using this toothpaste I do find that I get a near just left the dentists feeling! If you are brushing for the full 2 minutes recommended you will find that your teeth do feel super clean and your mouth feels fresh, and stays fresh for longer. I think with the combination of this toothpaste and my electric toothbrush I have seen a difference in my teeth and my oral hygeine is better.
One to try!!
Colgate Total Advanced Clean is another toothpaste variety from Colgate-Palmolive Company. It comes in a glossy box with red Colgate signature motif. The toothpaste comes in a white tube that's so soft to squeeze with gridded white flip cap.
*Contains advanced cleaning system for extra clean and healthy mouth
*Helps prevents cavities
*Helps prevent gingivitis
*Helps prevent plaque buildup
*Fights bad breath
*Fights tartar buildup
*Also whitens teeth
The white toothpaste is quite thick and it doesn't fall off easily from the toothbrush. I have used many brands of toothpaste that falls off to the sink as soon as I put it on the brush.
Colgate Total Advanced Clean has milder mint scent compared to other toothpaste brands. I can't smell its mint scent till I start brushing my teeth. I like a toothpaste with stronger mint scent but for those who don't, this toothpaste is for them. It has a very mild mint taste and it doesn't sting my tongue.
The paste feels sandy in my mouth as it has tiny crystals in it but I don't have any problem with it. It feels like that the paste is scrubbing my teeth and tongue like my body scrub does with my skin.
After brushing, my teeth and tongue feel really clean (and somewhat dry) but my mouth doesn't feel as fresh as when I'm using a toothpaste with stronger mint scent.
Price: £1.84 for 100ml tube
I absoloutely adore the colgate total range and am always keen to try new innovative pastes that they come out with, and after speculation of the advanced clean addition, I think I spent my money wisely!
The box is exactly the conventional Colgate packaging, it has a red stripe with the word colgate written across and then a symbol on the right hand side of the box, in this case it is the Total Advanced Clean.
The one thing that I love about Colgate is that part of the range has the 'Total' Symbol marked on. This tells the consumer that it will protect your teeth for 24 hours before they need cleaning again, but the minty taste goes away quickly as you would expect.
After every brush I lick my teeth and I feel the smoothness across the edges. The teeth seem healthy and are cleaned effeciently. I don't get a hazardous burning sensation I do from certain packs and it feels just right.
Would I recommend? Definitely, this addition to the Total range is a vast improvement on some I have witnessed and tested. The fact that it cleans around the inside of the teeth and gives the 'perfect teeth' you would require you cannot fault it.
