I have a thing about making sure my teeth are nice and clean I had a brace when I was younger and so spent alot of time at the dentist now a days I want to just do anything I can to make sure I never have to have dental treatment again and luckily for me I have made it to 27 years of age without a single filling :).
I chose this toothpaste whilst it was on offer in my local supermarket and it cost me £2 for 75ml tube. Now my main thing when looking for toothpastes is that they are a good name, a reasonable price and that they do not contain bicarbanate of soda as I can not stand the taste of that in my mouth it reminds me of the sensation that happens before I am sick so its a no no for me. Needless to say this toothpaste does not contain bicarb so I thought I would give it a go and Colgate is a good name in my opinion.
This particular toothpaste has 'Long-lasting anti-bacterial protection against cavities, tartar, plaque and gum problems.' That is according to the box. The ingredients are on the box I won't go into all of them bu tthere is advice on the box that you should not use this toothpaste if you are allergic to Sodium Fluoride or Triclosan as these are the active ingredients it also says not to use if you are allergic to the other ingreidients but I asume the first to mentioned must be the ones people are more allergic to.
The toothpaste itself is a green and white colour and is a medium consistency I would say a mix between a gel toothpaste and a paste. The taste is not too overpowering it has a nice polo type mint taste to it, it won't blow your head off and it is not a taste which lingers for ages after either which I actually quite like because I often brush my teeth then think oh I want a cup of tea now and most toothpastes ruin the taste of tea if you drink straight after brushing this however does not. That said my mouth still feels nice and clean when I have brushed my teeth I am not going to go into how you do this as I am sure you all know how to brush your teeth by now.
I recommend this toothpaste and will definatley use it again its one for me 5 stars.
I must admit that I love a good bargain but toothpaste is generally something that I would never normally scrimp on.
My Mum had brought this because it was on special offer with 2 100ml tubes for £3.00 and therefore when I was home recently I thought I'd better give it a little try and see if it is any better than the previous Colgate product she had purchased. It is provided in a standard toothpaste tube with a plastic screw cap at the end and the tube is squeezable. This is provided inside a red & white cardboard box. It's a pretty standard toothpaste all around and there is nothing particularly special about it, not from the packaging anyway.
The toothpaste is pretty standard and comes out of the tube a little fast so be wary of this when squeezing the tube! It is a clean colour and you can see the fresh stripe running through the middle. It is a minty toothpaste taste that is not too strong and as I often feel ill in the mornings I think this is quite good for helping me not gag when brushing my teeth/tongue. It works very well and left my teeth, gums & tongue feeling very clean and refreshed. The mint worked very well and I kept getting lots of tastes of mint while cleaning my teeth. My breath stayed fresh for quite a while afterwards as well and overall I was very pleased with the effectiveness of this toothpaste.
I am rating this product 5/5 and have given it this rating because it's a good price, and it did clean my teeth very well. It is as nicely flavoured as other products and the packaging looks fine in the bathroom. I would buy this and use it again and it's not a bad toothpaste at all. I really have no complaints about it as it did not leave me with bad breath or unclean looking teeth. My whole mouth felt squeaky clean and though my budget doesn't always stretch to more expensive toothpastes I will be looking out for it on special offer.
I've done it !!!
I've found one so close it scares me lol - read my 'Do You Want Dazzling Knashers?!?!' review to see exactly what I'm talking about!
After going through the strife of looking for my ever faithful toothpaste I was gutted when I bought another colgate toothpaste and found it absolutely rank so I continued my search. I came across Colgate Fresh stripe and it was the only box which sort of resembled the advanced gel box that I had become so fond off - I never usually like green but this was an attractive mint green - very close to that turquoise that I'd grown to love just not as shiny so I had to give it a try.
Just by looking at the box it comes in it is as if it is a sister toothpaste to the one I was using before - looks promising right? On the box we have the usual red background on the left hand side of the box with Colgate written on top, that golden oval on the right with Total written in the middle and last but not least the type of toothpaste this is - which is Fresh Stripe - with a small picture of a squirt so you have an idea of what this paste looks like - this one is green with a white stripe through it.
The main information is given on the side of the box. This toothpaste has 'Long lasting Anti-Bacterial Protection. It has been clinically proven that Colgate Total Fresh Stripe provides long lasting, anti bacterial protection against;
Sounds good so far, it's time to use it though!
I squeezed it onto my toothbrush that first time and I was amazed to see some mint green gel there - in fact I was rather excited as it looked so similar to the gel I was used to using. Through this gel though there was a white stripe - so I was hoping this wasn't going to be some thick, grainy paste. One good thing though was I could smell the mintyness instantly - it was that mighty mintyness I had gotten used too with my old toothpaste.
Using this toothpaste to brush my teeth was an absolute delight, it was smooth lathering and gliding along my teeth, the white stripe within added no rough or bubbly texture it stayed smooth yet every now and then I'd have a small and sudden blast of minty freshness swirling around my mouth so I'm assuming that was the extra fresh stripe working it's magic in my mouths depths. Whilst actually brushing I could feel the toothpaste sprucing up my teeth even my gums were beginning to feel the effects and were feeling rather refreshed and invigorated. The mintyness is refreshing and truly is a breath of fresh air, it is strong but not overpowering and my mouth feels tingly and squeaky clean.
After using the toothpaste I can smooth my tongue over my teeth and I feel no grainyness or a coating of any sort. My breath I found remained fresh and minty too. This was just too good to be true, it wasn't Advanced Fresh Gel so how could it be just as good? It was time for me to really put it to the test! My cheese and onion crisps come out - the smell and taste of these are extremely difficult to get rid of straightaway so I munched on a packet and prepared the toothpaste on my brush - just a pea sized blob as I find a little goes a long way. I finished my pack and blew out .. yes my breath was humming now. In went the brush and I began brushing, sweeping my brush around my teeth trying to give them a thorough cleanse, even given my tongue a quick sweep. Now I never find that a toothpaste can get rid of cheese and onion breath after just one brush and this one didn't either but I was impressed by the fact that instead of just smelling stinky crisps now I could actually smell some mintyness and I could even taste it too - so much better than the repeated burp breaths of cheese and stink .. oops I mean onion.
I have been using this toothpaste now for nearly a month and I have had a dentist visit this month and I was told 'well done' for keeping my teeth in the condition they were so this toothpaste is obviously carrying out the job it is intended to do.
This is again another toothpaste I don't feel the need to use mouthwash with - it gives me enough freshness for a good while without me having to gargle to freshen up and I feel the toothpaste does a good enough job whilst brushing too so I don't need the added extra from mouthwash - which is a plus.
No this isn't my favourite Advanced Fresh Gel but it comes very close in my opinion. I would definitely reccomend this to anybody looking to try a new toothpaste - it leaves you with fresh breath, clean teeth and revitalised gums with a lovely minty taste that isn't overpowering.
Colgate is always a brand of toothpaste that I rate very highly, there are many other brands of tootpaste out there that I have tryed but I always come back Colgate because of the high quality tootpaste that it produces.
The Colgate toothpaste total fresh stripe is probably the best of all tha colgate products that are out there, it leaves your teeth feeling cleaner and also your breath much fresher as well. On the toothpaste tube it always claims to protect against Cavities, Tartar, Bad breath, Plaque and Gum problems and I feel it really does a great job on each of these points.
The Colgate Total fresh stripe comes in a plastic tube in a box which is always the one that I always bought for many years but now I have changed to the Colgate pump containers that I fing very handy and very easy to use. All that needs to be done is to push the button at the top for the toothpaste to come out, and also there is a part underneath the tube that you push so that it pushes the rest of the tootpaste at the bottom up so that you use all the tootpaste in the container.
For one of these containers it would cost around £2 to £2.50 for a 100ml tube of it, also for the normal boxed stuff it costs around £1 to £1.50 for it, but if you shop around you probably could get them a whole lot cheaper.
Overall Colgate Total fresh stripe is the best on the market and is one that I highly recommended to use.
I use Colgate Total Fresh Stripe in the pump action dispenser twice a day and I rate it very highly. It costs £1.95 for a 100ml pump tube from Boots, although I am guessing it may well be cheaper elsewhere as Boots can normally be price-beaten on everyday toiletries by most places. At less than £2 for a tube which lasts ages though, I don't feel the need to shop around for it.
It comes in a rounded tall plastic tube with a flat bottom so that it stands up in your bathroom cabinet - ideal! The main colour on the label is minty green which immediately makes you think of freshness. It has the red Colgate logo diagonally down the middle. It has a plastic cap on the top which you pull off and push down on a red lever-type button, and the toothpaste squeezes out of a hold at the end. It comes out at a good pace - not fast enough to make a mess everywhere but not too slow that it takes forever. The only problem is that you don't get to squeeze the dregs out of the end like you do with a traditonal tube but in all honesty the 100ml tube lasts for ages and if I lose a few mls of paste I don't mind just for the fact that this dispenser makes life simpler!
It gives long-lasting anti-bacterial protection and fights cavities, plaque, tartar, gum problems and bad breath. Luckily I have never had any problems with my teeth so someone who has dental problems may rate this product differently, but for me it works very effectively.
My teeth always feel fresh and clean after use and I choose the Fresh Stripe paste because of the lovely fresh feeling it leaves in my mouth after use. However, I wish the fresh feeling lasted longer, as I always feel as though I need to refresh my mouth with chewing gum not long after I have brushed my teeth with this. I have found this with all the toothpastes I have ever tried though so it is not a problem particular to this product - I am just paranoid about having bad breath!
It contains 1450 ppm of flouride. It can also be used by children - those under 7 are advised to use just a pea sized amount for supervised brushing.
You are advised to brush teeth with Colgate Total twice a day for a minute each time - nothing unusual about that instruction which is great as I like my products to be effective and quick to use. It claims to keep breath fresher round the clock, though I don't feel as though it does this. I do like to feel minty fresh all day and I definately can't manage that feeling just by brushing morning and evening with this paste - I also need to use mouthwash and chew gum regularly to maintain oral freshness.
It is a unique combination of a sustained action anti-bacterial system and flouride to give long-lasting protection between brushings. It is also clinically proven to protect at the gumline.
After trying many different toothpastes over the years and never sticking to one particular type, I found this and now buy it in bulk - I don't intend to keep switching products any more as I am very happy with this one.
I am rating it 4* instead of 5 just in case I ever do stumble across a paste that leave my mouth up to my strict freshness standards all day long...although I very much doubt I will.
