Corsodyl Daily Defence
Advantages: Leaves teeth feeling clean
Disadvantages: Can be pricey
I recently had a bout of 'itchy gum' syndrome, which after a few days worth of treatment from using regular Corsodyl saw it on it's way. I was so impressed with this product that I mentioned it to my new dentist on my first official check up appointment a few weeks ago.
He was singing the praises of Corsodyl but warned it's not to be used regular like a *normal* mouthwash and asked if I had tried this - Daily Defence by Corsodyl.
When I said no I hadn't in fact heard of that particular one he gave me a free mini sample to try!
What is it?~
This is a mouthwash designed to be used daily (hence it's name) and promises to:
*Care for the gums
*Work for up to 12 hours fighting bacteria
*Has added fluoride to strengthen teeth
*Helps reduce bad breath
What it contains~
Not the whole ingredients list but it does contain Sodium Fluoride and Chlorexidine Digluconate. As I don't actually know what they are exactly I can't comment on how effect these particular ingredients are!
Packaging and Price~
As I got this for free (along with some products - I'm still in shock as I went to my old dentist every 6 months for 28 years and never received anything free.. except pain) I didn't have to part any money but I did notice this in my local Superdrug was a hefty £3.89 for a 500ml bottle.
The packaging is in the form of a brown plastic bottle which is tubby in appearance with a stubby neck. It has a green and white plastic wrapper that covers the majority of it and has a screw top twit off lid that doubles as the measure cup.
My experience of using this product~
The first thing you notice on removing the lid is the minty scent. Given that this is a Mint flavoured mouthwash though it's not exactly surprising.
It's a subtle minty aroma though and not strong so I was expecting a gentle taste..
On pouring the required amount into the lid (10 ml ) I was expecting a green coloured liquid so was actually quite surprised when it was totally transparent and the entire product resembled water.
On swishing the fluid round my mouth ( for 30 seconds as advised ) I found the scent was totally deceiving as the taste was VERY strong.
This wasn't a bad thing though as unlike it's Corsodyl mouthwash partners it didn't have any medicinal taste..just pure mint.
To recommend or not to recommend?~
I really like this mouthwash and though my little free sample of 50ml's has since run out I have actually purchased the larger size which I am using regularly.
It does state on the directions it can be used twice a day but I think once suffices for my regime.
This product leaves my mouth feeling really fresh and clean and my teeth and gums tingle after usage which I do like the feeling of.
I think it's safe to say after my glowing review of this that I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it for healthy teeth and tip top gums.
