Advantages: Doesn't feel uncomfortable. Treats gum problems and mouth ulcers.
Disadvantages: Not cheap.
Last year I suffered from a crop of mouth ulcers which showed no signs of going away. Having changed my toothpaste in case this was a factor, my dentist advised me to give Corsodyl a try as it can supposedly treat mouth uclers as well as gum problems.
TASTE
The mint taste is quite strong, although it's by no means as intense as the likes of Listerine. I can successfully swill this around my mouth for around 25 seconds whereas most mouthwashes only last about 10-15 seconds before I feel the need to evict them from my mouth. Based on this, I'd say that it's not a bad choice if you find Listerine too strong as I don't have big problems with the strength of this one.
USING IT
I usually use mouthwash after cleaning my teeth but this is a habit that I've had to get out of since using Corsodyl as toothpaste reduces the effectiveness of the mouthwash. I must admit that I don't always remember to go back at a later time to use the mouthwash after cleaning my teeth so it can be annoying if you don't have much time to spare and need to do the two tasks in quick succession.
PRICE
This is not a cheap mouthwash unfortunately. A quick check on the Boots website tells me that it currently sells for £3.65. As I am watching the pennies at the moment and haven't been told that I need to use this mouthwash for gum problems, I doubt that I'll be re-buying at the end of the current bottle purely due to the price factor. I never see it on offer in my town for some reason so it is quite expensive!
RESULTS
Obviously it's difficult, if not impossible, to say whether a mouthwash is doing its job as claimed. I'm not using this mouthwash for gum problems and my dentist has always said that my gums are in good health so I can't comment on how it might work for this. As I said, I bought this in the hope that it would tackle some persistent mouth ulcers. I now believe those to be stress-related but I must admit that I have not experienced so many mouth ulcers since using this and those that do occur generally clear up more quickly than before. I always feel that my mouth is clean after using this mouthwash. This is not always the case with cheaper brands so I'm assuming that this is because it's targeted at people with oral health issues.
Summary: Recommended for treating oral health problems - wish it was cheaper though!
